But the Giants are 23rd in baseball against sliders and 24th against four-seamers, those two pitches are 62% of his arsenal, and he gives up 0.6 homers per nine. Last time: 5 innings, 1 run. San Francisco has one of the lowest team totals on the slate at 3.2. Mid arm — the safe SP2.     OTHER THOUGHTS Hunter Brown: The model’s number two, but the Royals are first in baseball against curveballs and sliders and only strike out 19% of the time. Not at $9500. Shane Baz:  Fine, but in no mans land on pricing compared to others.   PADRES Really like this game up north of the border & will back the road Tigers the most as Fisher’s very unproven IMO.  It’s also young prospects do well season, which means guys like Max Clark suddenly do well and make us dream of drafting them way too early next year. Monday baseball with two weeks left in the regular season. Eight games on the MAIN tonight, and of course the Dodgers get tucked into a 6:40 PM start in Cincinnati so we can’t touch them. What we do get is the Padres at Coors Field in 86 degrees against a Rockies bullpen that has a 10.71 ERA over the last week. Not a typo. Ten. Seventy-one. So you already know where tonight starts, the only question is how much of your salary you want to spend getting there.   WEATHER Yankees at Twins: Damp, 59 degrees and a little rain in the area. They’ll get it in. Roofs in Toronto and Arizona. Everything else clear.   REID DETMERS (DK: $8800) Last time out it was 6 innings, 0 runs, 9 strikeouts. Tonight it’s a Mariners lineup that sits third on the slate in strikeout rate, and Detmers is carrying a 28% K rate and a 1.04 WHIP into it. The model has him nearly 20 points clear of the next arm on the slate. I’m not getting cute here — you play him and win the slate with the bats. QUINN MATHEWS (DK: $7700) The Giants are dead last against four-seamers and dead last against sliders. Those two pitches are 64% of what Mathews throws. I’m not saying he’s a stud, I’m saying San Francisco can’t hit what he’s throwing and they’re tied for the lowest team total on the slate. WILL WARREN (DK: $7300) Went 6 innings, 1 run, 8 strikeouts last time. The Twins actually handle fastballs pretty well, so he’s more of a salary saver than a ceiling play, but at this price in a damp ballpark I’ll take it.   OTHER THOUGHTS Troy Melton: In a dome and righties have a .235 wOBA against him. If you want to be weird for SP2, this is the weird. Kade Anderson:  The reverse splits should come back to the norm at some point.  Worth a longshot flyer.   PADRES Sugano at Coors. Obviously tonight is a big night in New York and you have the Mets/Yankees being scheduled to play for good reason on the 25th anniversary.  In terms of DFS if you wanna jump on some ‘narrative’ play that both teams are gonna hit lots of homers here then alright, but I don’t think we get that. WEATHER TB at ATL:  Light storm chances CIN at LAD:  Hot and stormy in LA!   Some weather concerns with both guys below but I trust they can find a way.  Skubal is the more risky weather one but he has a clean pivot in Bryce Miller 30 minutes before his game if you wanna ride over to that. Tarik Skubal (DK: $10,700) Too many strikeouts in that Cincinnati lineup not to go here.  They’re at 27% on the season now with this projected lineup, by far the highest on the slate tonight. Freddy Peralta (DK: $6800) It’s really impressive just how damn good the Rays are at fixing pitchers.  Peralta’s been looking more and more like the guy folks have long hyped him up to be in the last three starts — including a gem versus his former team on Sept 1st.  A little extra rest here should keep him in line to throw over 80 to 85 pitches as well, so the depth isn’t a concern given the cheap price.   OTHER PITCHING NOTES While Aaron Judge’s return tonight will be the headline lets not overlook that Corbin Burnes is back and facing the Royals.  A nice little boost for the Diamondbacks or so they think. The Nationals starting pitcher tonight is the Great Riley Cornholio.  Nothing really of note here, I just find it amusing.   YANKEES The Return of the A-A-Ron has to spark the Yankees as well as being back home right ahead of 9/11 anniversary.  Release some Baseballs that fly father now.  Oh, actually, you don’t need too.  Gabe Hughes can handle it on his own.
