There once was a time when Sunday MLB DFS was the best.  My favorite.  I loved it.  I dominated it.  I also did not have as much grey hair as I do now back then.  That was long, long, long time ago….  But yet, here we are, once again on a Sunday and the temptation persists.  She’s tempting us … So, are we going to lock and load up on MLB DFS on a Sunday?   WEATHER Warmer today than yesterday, but still some windy spots across the league.  Nothing that’s really changing my analysis heavily on any one game. The important weather decision — All games play!   Talk about new and old faces in new places…  Today is that day….  Gentlemen (and Ladies), we have Jose Quintana as a Rockie, MacKenzie Gore as a Ranger and Dustin May as a Cardinal making their SP debuts today.  We also have Tits in my Eye, starting for Houston, (… Sir, its Tatsuya Imai …) and you know how much I love stacking against Asians for their first time in American pro ball.  Further proof that God is a Baseball fan we have Jesus Luzardo starting on a Sunday and the preacher himself Max Meyer going for the Marlins in south beach.  Fun little Sunday MLB DFS slate to start us off, so lets find the gems. MY TOP THREE Max Meyer (DK: $7600, FD: $8700) … A pulse and some % of upside, we don’t ask for much when picking on Colorado.  He has both. Jesus Luzardo (DK: $9500, FD: $10.1k) … Some new hitters here in Texas, but still has old Texas vibes right now.  Unless they’re getting a heavy breaking ball RHP, they’re not going to string together long innings.  So, just keep throwing with that left hand Luzardo and you’ll be just fine. Nolan McLean (DK: $9700, FD: $10.5k) … I think we’re over paying here for some pre-season hype on McLean being dominant – however it’s certainly a little justified.   THE SUNDAY SLEEPER Every Sunday I feel there is upside in finding that veteran or unknown pitcher that is going to exceed expectations.  This early in the season they’re not as common, but typically Sunday’s being a big get away day for everyone we find teams go dormant when they should be more awake offensively and you get that sleeper SP in the mid range […]

SITE SLATE BREAKDOWN The annual tradition is back.  Satudray’s when FanDuel has a million MLB DFS slates and we really just deal with DraftKings for pricing and slate analysis.  This article covers the 8 game 2pm EST Early Slate window.   WEATHER Aaaaaaaaaand it’s cold.  Hopefully for just a day or two, but damn it’s cold.  This is when we get away from those Opening Day warm weather and likely juiced up environments to expect some colder/faster paced games which move right along. Stolen Bases-  I have long thought that SB attempts are lower in cold because players are less likely to risk injury to hamstrings but it’s just not true.  In fact, Stolen Base success rates have jumped significantly up when the temperature is below 50 degrees.  There’s also a boost to games that are really cold in going over the expected total, likely because the pitchers struggle with grips, more walks and … more steals to get guys in scoring position.  The 45-60 degree range is prime for unders, but for some of these really cold games I would target the steals today.   KYLE BRADISH (DK: $8300) The Orioles will use a 6-man rotation likely for a good portion of this season to not over extend guys like Bradish, but in DFS that’s not a problem for us at all.  As expected, the Twins offense was very pedestrian on opening day & should be one to target a good deal this season. EURY PEREZ (DK: $7900) And now we plug and play the SP vs the Rockies recommendation of the day.  Something that will certainly have its failures along the way, but not with elite arm talent like Perez who had a very high whiff % in spring for those that are big on Spring trends for pitchers.  Perez combined with Bradish just feels like an automatic get you good points play today, so that’s the no brainer start in my mind.   OTHER PITCHING THOUGHTS … I think Aaron Nola is going to have a little bit of a bounce back season where he gives the Phillies 6 innings every start and doesn’t have as many blow ups as his curve ball should do well with the ABS if used right.  But not now, absolutely not now and not until May most likely.  Similar thoughts on deGrom, I’m in a wait and see mode on him. WEATHER Poor MLB has PTSD from prior early season cold weather scenarios and they have their usual second day only in domes and warm weather schedule rolling out tonight while we miss chances to play games in nice weather.  You have mostly domes, and absolutely zero reason to need to pull up a weather app today.   SANDY ALCANTARA (DK: $7500, FD: $8900) Like driving down a major highway and coming up on an accident with no real way around it.  You cannot avoid playing Sandy at home vs the Rockies.  Through ups and downs last year coming back from TJ Sandy was still great at limiting damage at home and the Rockies bats, while young and fiesty at home, are … well, like their mascot.  Lame and limp on the road. GAVIN WILLIAMS (DK: $8000, FD: $8800) An annual tradition for me is loading up on the Guardians in Seattle.  I don’t know if it’s where the org stays in a hotel or what, but seeing them start here and knowing they wont be back later in the season is kinda a bummer for us to miss out on.   Take their ML again tonight and back Gavin Williams.  The ball shouldn’t carry like it was last night with second night vibes & with Williams if his command is on he is in that 20+ DK pt range. MIKE BURROWS (DK: $6500, FD: $7500) A sneaky offseason trade by Houston, who has a reputation for rebuilding pitchers and changing their strategy on how they attack hitters.  That’s the process now with Burrows, so buy low here until his price comes up if he is the next project they transform into the next or a lighter version of Hunter Brown.  I would think he is cautious with Trout who looked locked in yesterday in a park he hates which is significant and Burrows going to be throwing more 2-seamers, so he really should stay away from Trout and then have a clean path throughout the rest of the order. OTHER THOUGHTS I don’t hate Sale, Valdez, Ragans, etc…  Just sticking with my guns of no heavy pay up upside there.  The three above should all be adequately in the same area and Williams/Burrows are contrarian for some pivot upside.   BLUE JAYS Beyond Severino, there’s tons of bombs waiting in the Athletics bullpen.  Some good arms, some disasters.  It’s not a […]

Welcome Back. The phrase, we live in uncertain times is nothing new and to sit here and say that we’re in weird times isn’t anything that really should draw too much attention.  But, it’s true, and it’s very true in terms of how we want to enjoy our lives outside of the normal routine from a Sports and Entertainment perspective.  I’ve stayed away from much of the MLB off-season chatter this year and as someone who loves Baseball more than anything else, that’s a little different but at the same time it was a nice reset.  I’ve come back to what feels like far more MLB hype than I am used too hearing this time and maybe that’s because my eyes and ears are open more than my mouth and fingers are yapping this time of year. As a tech nerd myself, I have fully embraced certain aspects of the advancements in automation, AI-coding and other buzz trends that many others are embracing finally.  I’ve been doing the MLB Dashboards, modeling and tools development ever since I started this site during COVID (Shout out to those who remember the KBO DFS Dashboard, lord that thing was ugly but fucking awesome).  Now, everyone and their left testicle seemingly has vibe coded some type of model and is claiming they can do it well on Twitter, Instagram, Tiktok or whatever thing the kids are using these days. Everyone, except … The people who claimed they founded the DFS community of course.  It’s wild.  You’ll see far more coming out of the younger betting community in terms of innovation and great tools than those who have tried to claim they invented the concept that the only way to win in MLB DFS is by stacking the highest implied run totals each night.  It really just proves who has creative minds and who doesn’t.  I say this rant just because, I’ve been finding it helpful to speed up the cleanliness or the MLB Dashboard, Adding good Betting tools and improving the user experience and have liked to see others doing similar things out there.  I also caution you though, be careful with the claims others are going to make in regards to their success early in the season.  Everyone has success before May in Baseball.
