NFL Week 5 – TNF Showdown

Tampa Bay and Chicago square off tonight and there’s injuries abound.  So let’s first figure out what we know about these two teams The way to attack the Bears is on the ground and that’s where Tampa seems thin, so I expect lots of quick passing to ensure Brady stay’s upright. This doesn’t feel like […]

The Dongers Club – Thu, Oct 8th

UPDATE Zack Greinke IS starting for Houston today, so cross Javier off.  But don’t trust Greinke on limited pitch count most likely. Dustin May is starting for the Dodgers today.  This is going to end really bad for L.A.  REALLY Bad….   After day after day of home runs and continued overs in this second round as we expected, we could in my mind see some nice pitchers duel’s today as every game is a potential elimination game and even though there aren’t any true Ace’s going, that would be Baseball! as they say.  As Baseball fan’s, let’s hope that the Marlins, Athletics, Yankees (ew!) and Padres all win so we have a four game Friday tomorrow.   Atlanta (Wright) vs Miami (Sanchez) Of all the teams facing elimination I give the Marlins the best chance today.  I know the Braves pitching has been lights out this post-season, but Sixto Sanchez grades out very well for me today and impressed in their Wild Card round against the Chicago Cubs.  If his command is on then we have the potential to see a 7 strikeout performance from the young star. The side which I trust the most in this game though would be the Marlins bats against Kyle Wright.  Wright really struggled with being consistent against LH bats in his rookie season allowing a .393 wOBA, 2.0 HR/9 and walking 16% of lefties he had to face.  Hello Corey Dickerson who let me down yesterday but remains an elite play at his price today. Best Bet:  Marlins Stack:  Marlins (Dickerson – Aguilar – Anderson – Joyce – Sierra) One off:  Freddie Freeman Better Pitcher:  Sixto Sanchez   Oakland (Montas) vs Houston (Javier) This is where Houston is really missing Zack Greinke as they go into Game 4 with a 2-1 series lead but have to face Frankie Montas and an Athletics team who seemed to wake up quite a bit yesterday.  Montas was so-so against the Astros in three starts this season, with his best outing coming the first time they matched up in a 7 inning shutout performance.  The weather in L.A. has been fantastic for hitting but is cooled off a little bit today which could make this the sneaky Pitcher’s duel of the day.  If you are related to Austin Powers and Danger is your middle name, you’ll bet the under and just close your eyes.  If Montas […]

NFL Notes – Week 5

NFL Week 5 Notes Dom Steve Bucs at Bears (44) Dom thinks Chicago could win this game David Montgomery runs well, catches screen for a TD, 30-40 recv, 60-70 rushing Bears defense scores Bears to win, defense, Montgomery and Anthony miller score. Not projecting Allen Robinson game. Total comes right at — estimate 43 or […]

The Dongers Club – Wed, Oct 7th

Another home run filled exciting day yesterday as we continue to see a boost in offense and some guys are absolutely on fire.  Specifically, Giancarlo Stanton, who I outlined on Monday was a must start in PETCO and that’s a great reason why you should be reading this every day to pick up nuggets to continue forward.  Ballpark splits matter! Another four games today and if you want more Baseball like me, then you should root for the Athletics to win today to keep their series going into tomorrow.  Let’s go game by game again today to help win in DFS and in our betting plays.   Miami (Lopez) vs Atlanta (Anderson) Two good young pitchers take to the hill today and I would be shocked if Ian Anderson is not a chalky play against a Marlins lineup which is RH heavy.  But there is a must play on the Marlins and that is Corey Dickerson, who should be leading off if the Marlins know what they are doing and has a crazy .850+ SLG % in his career at Minute Maid Park.  Dickerson, a former Tampa Ray for a while knows the AL park well and absolutely destroys Curve Balls, which has been Anderson’s weakness.  If Anderson is off with his control early we can see a 3-1 pitch get taken out to right field by Dickerson.  Beyond that however, I love this spot for Anderson and project him to be one of the top 3 pitchers on the day. Best Bet:  Marlins to score first Stack:  Braves (Freeman-Ozuna core) One off:  Corey Dickerson Better Pitcher:  Ian Anderson   Oakland (Luzardo) vs Houston (Urquidy) The fact that Oakland might let Houston sweep them without having to use Greinke in Dodger Stadium is crazy.  But Oakland for some reason rolled out Sean Manaea yesterday and put themselves in a hole.  Today they turn to their most talented, but still inconsistent, pitcher in Jesus Luzardo.  Another warm afternoon game in Dodger Stadium makes it hard to trust either pitcher but I do like both for the high reward of a ton of strikeouts. Houston is smashing everything and George Springer once again looks like an elite play.  I’ll prefer to just go with some one offs here from Houston and he along with Carlos Correa are my favorite Houston bats today.  But the better stack upside is on Oakland.  They get to be […]

The Dongers Club – Tue, Oct 6th

We are assured have having two back to back days of four game slates as there are no days off for the second round of the MLB Playoffs.  Both DK and FD have nice contests out there as well for the slate which locks at 2 PM today.   Today’s Games Miami vs Atlanta in Minute Maid Park (Houston) Houston vs Oakland in Dodger Stadium (Los Angeles) NY Yankees vs Tampa Bay in Petco Park (San Diego) San Diego vs LA Dodgers in Globe Life Dome (Texas)   Weather We had a very profitable day following the weather in the two American League games yesterday.  It won’t be as easy of an automatic play today due to the start time and not being so insanely hot in both games.  The roof in Arlington is likely OPEN tonight which helps hitters in the Padres/Dodgers series.   PITCHING PLAYS Deivi Garcia (Yankees) A quick hook is certainly a concern in this game but we have four divisional match-ups today which means the hitters know the pitchers in every game — except this one.  Tampa has not seen Garcia and he has generated a high 36% swing rate at pitches outside of the zone.  That’s the type of stat which tells me teams need to see him to learn him and know him — especially left handed heavy teams like the Rays who will be tempted to try and jump on him.  While everyone runs to Glasnow for strikeouts in this game, watch Garcia out perform him. Walker Buehler (Dodgers) This is not a smash spot for Buehler but there’s very few pitchers that I expect to dominate today and I’ll ride the worst hitting park on the slate with the better pitcher in the game. Max Fried (Atlanta) Fried really stepped up for the Braves this season when Mike Soroka went down with a season ending injury and he is someone who gets a lot of weak contact and keeps the ball in the ground very well.  This Marlins team likely does not hit him extremely hard today despite being a favorable park for a few of their RH hitters.  I wouldn’t project him to have a high number of strikeouts but I would trust him on a two pitcher site like DraftKings today.     LINEUPS TO TARGET Houston Astros Jose Altuve – George Springer – Kyle Tucker I have no idea […]

NFL MNF Special – Week 4

Special slate of two games gifted to us tonight thanks to the Cam Newton COVID-19 positive test.  Thanks, Cam!   QUARTERBACK Patrick Mahomes I believe the Packers/Falcons game is going to be a dud and one that is mostly managed through the ground.  So lets take the most sure thing at Quarterback from the Pats/Chiefs […]

The Dongers Club – Monday, October 5th

The second round of the MLB playoffs will begin today and there are no schedule days off in this round of the playoffs.  That won’t matter in the first couple of games but by the time they get to game three and beyond we will be noticing a lot of interesting decisions from managers with regards to bullpens. The two American League best of five series begin today and will be played in PETCO Park in San Diego and Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles as the MLB moves into a bubble environment setup. The Astros and Athletics will face off in Los Angeles with the Athletics being the “home” team for the first two games. The Rays and Yankees will face off in San Diego with the Rays being the “home” team for the first two games. I expect lots of offense in both of these series, including today.   WEATHER There’s a reason they picked L.A. and San Diego.  It’s nice out and in the case of the game in L.A. it’s extremely warm.  I expect both games to go OVER with lots of home runs as all four teams have HR power. Houston (McCullers) vs Oakland  Bassitt) in Dodger Stadium From a DFS perspective these are your sneaky pitchers today for strikeouts, but I don’t know that the strikeout upside each bring is enough to trust it as the contrarian play. Astros Hitters Dodger stadium typically plays well for LH hitters and Bassitt has been so good at keeping right handed hitters in the ballpark that I think our entire focus has to be on Kyle Tucker (great FB/CH hitter, which Bassit throws 65%+ of the time) and Michael Brantley.  Houston runs at the pace of George Springer though, so if you like Houston to score a bunch you gotta have Springer. DFS:  Tucker – Brantley – Springer Athletics Hitters Tommy La Stella should lead off for Oakland and has been a great addition to this lineup at the top of the order.  He and Marcus Semien (SS isn’t great on this two game slate, lock him in) are the table setters as must owns.  Since I mentioned this is a good lefty park that brings Matt Olson, Mr. HR or bust into play as well. DFS:  La Stella – Semien – Olson   N.Y. Yankees (Cole) vs Tampa Bay (Snell) in PETCO Park Prepare for fireworks.  This […]

NFL Week 4 – SNF Showdown

GAME WINNER BET EAGLES +7.5 Completely going opposite of the public perception on this play.  Eagles lose but cover.   GAME CAPTAINS Miles Sanders – RB – Eagles With almost no trust worthy WR that are healthy this is a game I can totally see the Eagles dumping it off to Sanders a ton and […]
