NFL Notes – Week 3

NFL Week 3 Notes   Dom Steve Dolphins at Jaguars Is Tua ready?  Is this the game Fitzpatrick gets “hurt” and Tua comes in during the 2nd quarter to lead the Dolphins to 45 points?  Their offense kind of looks ready minus having that dynamic running back.  Could you imagine them getting Hubbard or even […]

The Dongers Club – Thu, Sep 24th

Tonight is a nice quiet six game slate with one game having some rain issues (Marlins vs Braves).  It’s a game they need to get in but also could just punt it to Monday since both teams are caught up on their schedules enough at this point.  The regular season (if we cant to call it that) is over and has been over in my mind for a week now.  While Friday and Saturday are likely still good DFS days the real time to look forward is still the playoffs next week which will be a unique DFS landscape with all these three game wild card series starting.  I’m extremely excited for it and really hope that the DFS sites do not screw up an opportunity to give us all day slates. So here’s a quick run down on how I would rank the plays tonight.   PITCHERS Lance Lynn – Texas Corbin Burnes – Milwaukee Kris Bubic – Kansas City Both Texas and Houston are bad offenses right now and in an extreme pitchers park.  Either Lynn or Javier should be used tonight from that game. Burnes and the Brewers are facing the Cardinals in what will be a deciding series on either team having a shot this season so while he is obviously a better overall pitcher than Bubic, but I can also see this being a little less of a cake walk than what Bubic might have against Detroit if he’s getting them to chase pitches. I would not bother with Walker Buehler tonight as the Dodgers should limit him.   TARGET LINEUPS / STACKS Orioles & Red Sox … Verdugo & Devers for Boston and Nunez for Baltimore LA Dodgers … Top of the order or bust with the Dodgers tonight. Kansas City Royals … Chalk Royals has either hit the nuts or been a complete bust all season long, and tonight appears no different.  Hard to not like Whit and Dozier. I’ve hyped up Cobb against Boston in the past but tonight doesn’t feel like that night.  Start off with Boston in your lineup(s) today as they’re the CORE team to ride.  Personally I love the Dodgers against Mike Fiers, but it’s either top of the order coming out and blowing him out of the gates or a dud.  I’m not chasing the value guys there. The value is from Kansas City and Baltimore.  Jorge […]

NFL Week 3 – TNF Showdown

Jacksonville and Miami will tangle up tonight and I’m trying to equate what this is like in MLB terms and it just hit me like a ton of bricks.  This is the Detroit Tigers and the Pittsburgh Pirates meeting up in a spot where everyone looked at it and said EW, yuck, and then we […]

The Dongers Club – Wed, 9/23

Wow, we have a 14 game slate on DraftKings as they opted to start things off at 6PM eastern tonight.  That’s fricken awesome. FanDuel, however . . . Did not do that.  Welp. So there are only 8 games on FanDuel tonight, versus the 14 on DraftKings.  Full coverage in this article focused on all 14 games.   WEATHER No issues   Shane Bieber He’ll be pitching with the motivation of looking for the Cy Young award to get secured against Giolito tonight.  The White Sox are really in a funk overall on offense and could be going into a 12 strikeout spot tonight if they are not careful. Zack Greinke Greinke can throw plenty of pitches tonight because he doesn’t strain himself and they’ll have enough time between this start and the playoffs to roll him out in game one.  Keep picking on Seattle. Michael Wacha Not really sure if it’s a sign of the apocalypse that a fourteen game slate is finally given to us and Michael Wacha winds up as one of my pitching recommendations, however it cannot be a great sign.  Wacha historically can have more issues with RH bats than lefties and my assumption is that Tampa will just roll out 9 lefties tonight because they like to think they’re the smartest team in the room.  Sorry Tampa, you’re not going to the World Series.  This smells like a random Wacha 6 inning, 1 ER, 4 strike out game and that’s a viable play today.   I also like tonight Alex Young – Texas remains a team that lacks consistent offense. Max Fried – Should be a lower scoring game with him and Sixto battling it out in Atlanta.   San Francisco Giants Alex Dickerson, Brandon Belt San Francisco believe it or not is potentially a playoff team as they’re fighting with the Brewers for the final 8 seed.  Dickerson is hot again and while Yaz is banged up there’s still plenty in this lineup to love today against Ryan Castellani and a Rockies bullpen that is already planning their ski excursions for the winter. St. Louis Cardinals Paul Goldschmidt, Paul DeJong, Tommy Edman, Yadier Molina Danny Duffy started the season off hot but has really crashed of late (Thanks, I’ll be here all week).  In a seriousness, Paul Goldschmidt vs a fastball lefty is still close to a cheat code and with Duffy being […]

The Dongers Club – Tue, 9/22

I personally do not think you should be playing MLB DFS right now, but then if you are like me you’ll be sitting there at 6PM tonight and just thinking to yourself, man, what if Maikel Franco hits 2 home runs again tonight and I missed out on that? Alright, maybe you won’t be obsessing over Maikel Franco tonight, but none the less I know you’re looking to play if you are here. So how can we find a way to keep playing when half the league is already mailed it in for the playoffs and the other half can’t wait to get this short season over with and they can go back to not having to wear a mask in the dugouts and go out to eat without fear of getting in trouble for spreading COVID around their clubhouse? Follow along on the journey   Framber Valdez Seattle is close to clinching and Valdez has a ton of strikeout upside. Blake Snell If you think Snell will go deeper than 5 or maybe 5 1/3 IP tonight then you are mistaken.  But even in the short amount of innings he should throw tonight he has potential to be a solid play in your DFS lineups due to his high strikeout upside against the Mets.  There’s no deGrom lock button top Ace tonight, so consider Snell good enough or just go full mid range on your pitchers with some riskier kids below. Brady Singer DraftKings is giving us some bait tonight having him at only $6,900.  While the price tag is most definitely nice he is facing a team in the Cardinals that have not hit sliders very well this season.  His sinker down in the zone type action could benefit Goldschmidt and Dejong but given how cold they are as a team, I can trust Singer again.   Also of slight interest on DraftKings:    Keegan Akin – Boston is dead men walking Tarik Skubal – Terrifies me if the Twins want to keep pushing to chase the White Sox, but they have recently clinched and could take the night off.   Just remember that if you are out here looking for a team to roll up 10 or more runs right now you are doing it wrong.  A five run game is a solid outing for an offense these days. Texas at Arizona (Chase Field) Neither team is […]

NFL Week 2 – MNF Showdown

Sorry for getting this out late, tied up but this is an easy game for me to break down.  I have had this circled as a tough spot for the Saints for months now and still think it will be a close and low scoring game.   GAME WINNER BET UNDER I never bet on […]

The Dongers Club – Mon, 9/21

There are only six games on FanDuel tonight and eight games on DraftKings which is locking a little bit earlier.  There’s no weather concerns either, which is good.  The following games are only available on DraftKings tonight because they lock before 7PM. This final week of the MLB season is not the best of spots to be going in deep into DFS, but if we aren’t lazy we might have an edge.  I personally think teams who are in the playoffs don’t care much about home and away advantage as it only applies in the first round.  They’ll want to be rested with their bullpen and starting rotation with almost no days off once the playoffs begin.  So it’s all about motivation for betting/DFS purposes this week. Yankees at Blue Jays — The Yankees have clinched, Jays need a win. Brewers at Reds — Both teams are tied and right in the mix for the final wild card spots. Rest of the slate: Cubs at Pirates — Cubs are in, Pirates are out Marlins at Braves — Marlins need this more than Atlanta Rays at Mets — Rays are secure, Mets have outside longshot Cardinasl at Royals — Cardinals are alive, Royals are not. Astros at Mariners — Astros need it unless they just want to fade away into the sunset of the offseason.  Mariners are pretty much dead Rockies at Giants — Rockies need a prayer like the Mets, Giants are in their path.     Jacob deGrom The Mets still have an outside shot of getting into the playoffs since other teams are potentially beating up on each other this week and while they face the best team in the AL (Tampa Bay), they’re getting them at the exact right time.  deGrom should have a fantastic outing tonight and won’t burn you. Lance McCullers Jr. Seattle has greatly dropped off offensively of late and is back to a team that should be picked on.  The Astros are desperate to get this over with one way or another.  So either they try to sneak in to defend themselves as American League Champions or they fade off.  But honestly, that’s going to be on the hitters and not Lance.   Also of slight interest on DraftKings:   Johnny Cueto   Miami Marlins Corey Dickerson, Starling Marte Sticking with a theory that cold weather games are best to be avoided we’re looking […]

NFL Week 2 – SNF Showdown

My quick thoughts on the Patriots vs Seahawks Sunday Night game tonight for Showdown and for SNF-MNF Purposes.   GAME WINNER BET New England Patriots +4 Historically the teams who have given the Seahawks defensive scheme trouble have been teams with a mobile Quarterback.  A lot of this has to do with the same reason […]

The Dongers Club – Sat, Sept 19th

Mike Clevinger Mariners offense is done for the year.  Thanks for coming, next.  No, seriously though.   Clevinger was a little rough in his first transition over to the National League but is squarely at the top of the mark today against the Mariners in his home park even though it’s not his home park.  2020 is wild… Charlie Morton Crafty and should confuse the Orioles hitters tonight.  Cooler temps and Tampa will give him the run support they lacked last night despite winning. Andrew Heaney I really like the top two guys above but man if Heaney is going to break this slate then I may vomit.  He’s got a bad team coming into his park tonight and vs LHP they strike out a ton — it’s just that Heaney is always dicey and makes my stomach churn.   White Sox / Reds Keuchel returning to the NL and Bauer back against an AL Central opponent?  Sleeper fireworks game with Acquno leading off for the Reds and a warming up Castellanos behind him this game should start off hot.  But don’t ignore those White Sox against Bauer. Houston Astros Houston desperately needs a win and George Springer should celebrate his birthday with a bang tonight. Tampa Rays Back to the Rays in Camden yards tonight.  Look for any value and good IF plays tonight. San Diego Padres Being the road team in their own park has perks, like a 9th inning bonus HR or two against a bad bullpen     CATCHER Salvy is just on a tear right now. Salvador Perez Yasmani Grandal FIRST BASE Jose Abreu Brad Miller SECOND BASE Joey Wendle Kolten Wong THIRD BASE Yoan Moncada Eugenio Suarez Justin Turner SHORTSTOP Trevor Story Carlos Correa Adalberto Mondesi OUTFIELD – Mt. Rushmore Christian Yelich George Springer Nick Castellanos Aristedes Acquino … Great value leading off.   Don’t forget to Trust the Dashboard

The AMBUSH – NFL Week 2

I thought Week 1 went exceptional and if you had the right contest selection as I did then you should have netted more than a 2x weekend as I did.  Something I do each week is go back and look at my article and analysis to try and grade it out.  The key to my […]
