Because everyone’s gonna bug me for it, I’ll just put the MNF showdown thoughts into an article.
And yeah, it’s kinda weird that the two Kansas City teams are playing tonight and I’m rooting for one and against the other, but here we are with a great MNF and MLB doubleheader on the slate today.
For the Saints at Chiefs game, I really think if you had full rosters the Saints would be prime to go into Arrowhead for an upset. But they’re depleted on the OL, depleted on defense and of course have no Taysom Hill — who remains the key to their offense efficiency whether you want to believe the eye ball test, numbers or just have this horrible bias against good football players and are a hater.
SAINTS
- Get the Tight Ends Involved: Juwan Johnson has not been much of a threat this season and New Orleans has almost no size/physicality outside of him and Foster Moreau in the red zone. Both have 1.5 reception props which I think are definite over plays and both are viable in showdown.
- Dont Kill Kamara: Alvin’s usage is up, that’s great. Alvin’s RUSH usage is up. That’s not great. Kendre Miller is close to returning, which means he’s also close to getting re-injured. Jammal Williams my man, you gotta have at least 2 or 3 good games this season. Dont need more then that, but if you are ever going to do something, tonight would be a nice night for that.
- Be Special: New Orleans cannot win tonight without Special Teams doing something and that means a Rasheed Shaheed + D/ST correlation in Showdown my friends
- The sleeper: Mason Tipton. I have been pushing Tipton for a couple of weeks now. They love him and he has great speed which is a huge asset when teams are trying to top Olave/Shaheed with their fastest DB’s. The breakout TD is coming…
CHIEFS
- Attacking the LB: New Orleans gets HOF/All Prop LB DeMario Davis back tonight but has lost former Chief Willie Gay and possibly Pete Werner as well. A huge problem which could result in Travis Kelce finally having a good game. Or Noah Gray has 6 for 75 and 2 TD.
- Defense vs Carr? Not so fast: Despite the Saints OL completely being dead now, they have managed to not give up a ton of sacks and a big reason is the scheme and Carr’s decision making in the pocket. It’s been very good at sack avoidance. They should get 2 tonight, but don’t count on this being a dominant Chiefs defense game unless they can score. On the flip side, I would be shocked if Harrison Butker doesn’t have 3 x 50 yard field goals.
- Ground & Pound: If the Chiefs are smart, they lean on the OL and work through the Hunt-Perine-Steele mix to run the ball a ton and wear down New Orleans with a limited front 7 tonight. Their WR do not have an advantage on the outside.
SHOWDOWN PICKS
- 2, if not 3 TE tonight
