The Dongers Club – Sept 2nd

Congrats to Wiserman on winning the August contest.  His award is that he is going to get to do Sunday’s article as tomorrow is my last before vacation.  Don’t suck Wise. Thirteen game Friday slate with 2 games starting before the 7pm lock. [spacer height=”10px”] WEATHER We have no anticipated weather issues. [spacer height=”10px”] NICK PIVETTA We gotta trust the data here as the Rangers 3-9 projected hitters are horrific vs Sliders and Knuckle Curves in 2022.  Pivetta also has the benefit of Fenway Park in September which cools off, has low humidity and the wind is also blowing in slightly tonight.  This could be a 7 or 8 inning spot for Pivetta if he avoids walks. KYLE GIBSON Not many guys are pitching better than Kyle Gibson at the moment but when you can say you faced the Nationals, Marlins, Reds and Pirates in that stretch then sure you can pretend to be a fancy Lobster Dinner at a not so fancy restaurant.  It’s still a Lobster dinner so we gotta acknowledge it.  Tonight that trend should continue vs the Giants, who are as bad if not worse than those other teams. DEAN KREMER The Dean of Baltimore has been good in Camden Yards, like many Orioles pitchers in 2022.  He allows a low 0.097 ISO, has a 21% strikeout rate and overall hitters xWOBA is .304.  Yada, yada, yada.  Dude, he’s facing Oakland and no I am not using Dermis Garcia or Shea Langeliers so give me Kremer as a nice value arm tonight. [spacer height=”10px”] MINNESOTA TWINS Kepler, Arraez, Correa, Polanco When the Twins go on the road in the AL Central they hit well and facing Davis Martin – who isn’t quite a long shutdown arm – is even more reason to load up on Kepler and the Twins. MILWAUKEE BREWERS Renfroe, Adames, Tellez, Mitchell (2k punt), Narvaez Zach Davies has been okay in Chase Field but this is still a scenario where Milwaukee should be able to hit him around quite a bit tonight.  I don’t see them striking out much for a change either. SEATTLE MARINERS Winker, Haniger, Frazier We have a scratch here as Zach Plesac realized he was going to balloon his ERA and said, here you take it kid.  Cody Morris is a tall RHP who will start tonight and I have loaded some long term projections on him into the […]

CFB DFS Tailgate: Fri, 9/2

A larger than normal Friday slate but with a lot of random teams on it.  Quite honestly, it doesn’t move the needle much, but we have picks to be made. East Kentucky vs East Michigan Virginia Tech vs ODU Western Michigan vs Michigan State William & Mary vs Charlotte Temple vs Duke TNTC vs Kansas […]

CFB DFS Tailgate: Thu, 9/1

Welcome back College Football! Today’s slate of games on DraftKings is all about cupcake match-ups as there are only two games with spreads that are below 19.5 points and for good reason Penn State (-3.5) vs Purdue West Virginia at Pittsburgh (-7.5) Among the other games which are high spreads that have the highest totals […]

The Dongers Club – August 31st

Only nine games tonight to close out August… Final Round of the August Dongers Club Contest: https://www.draftkings.com/draft/contest/131072670 [spacer height=”10px”] WEATHER All clear [spacer height=”10px”] Kyle Wright I believe Wright will out perform Cole tonight and for nearly 2k cheaper than deGrom he makes far more sense against a bad Rockies lineup.  So long as he can maybe avoid pitching to Ryan McMahon tonight. You take the Blue Pill, and you take Jacob deGrom and all the donkey value…. You take the Red Pill, and we ride with the contrarian bats and the cheap SP2 choices tonight.  The choice is yours… Anibal Sanchez Both Anibal and Kaprielian are going to be considered value plays today and when you have two guys who are even take the one who is $1200 cheaper and also likely to strike out 2 more hitters. Bailey Falter Philly wins.  Falter is not as talented as his opponent Tommy Henry but he has had a longer cup of coffee in the majors and should know how to pitch around some trouble tonight. [spacer height=”10px”] Other pitching notes deGrom is fine yes but I would look at Tyler Anderson more in that game. [spacer height=”10px”] Chicago Puke Sox Insert a *GIF* here of some dude vomiting while taking a giant dump and you have my desire to really want to roll out Chicago today.  But I can’t help but take a bite out of the Andrus/Vaughn/Abreu/Eloy chalk fest which is going to allow lineups to build with deGrom and Cole or Wright today.  It cashes.  Does it win?  No, but it cashes. [spacer height=”10px”] Seattle Mariners Haniger, Suarez, France, J-Rod Don’t confuse Tyler Anderson with Tyler Alexander and it’s Alexander who gets to face Julio, France, Haniger and Suarez to lead things off for the Mariners who are going to no doubt put up another good game today. [spacer height=”10px”] Philadelphia Phillies Segura, Bohm, Realmuto Phillies win tonight. [spacer height=”10px”] CATCHER Eric Du Haase Mich JT Realmuto MJ Melendez [spacer height=”10px”] FIRST BASE Nick Pratto Jose Abreu Andrew Vaughn [spacer height=”10px”] SECOND BASE Jean Segura Jorge Polanco Trevor Story [spacer height=”10px”] THIRD BASE Alec …. [spacer height=”10px”] SHORTSTOP It’s not that Elvis is going to go 4-5 with 2 doubles and a homer, it’s that Elvis is going to go 1-4 with a walk and two runs scored and your pitcher won’t be negative with him. Elvis Andrus […]

The Dongers Club – August 30th

Twelve games today. Round 2 of the August Dongers Club Contest: https://www.draftkings.com/draft/contest/131019896 [spacer height=”10px”] WEATHER OAK at WAS:  Stormy.  Lack of fans likely attending as well.  Godspeed Nationals…. LAD at NYM:  Light Rain, game likely plays.  Happy Cody Bellinger series. Comerica Wind:  14 MPH out to Left Center.  Hello! All else is clear [spacer height=”10px”] Kevin Gausman Cubs have been better lately about not striking out but are still a weak lineup and still have Franmil Reyes, who should strike out 3 times tonight. George Kirby I can’t believe I like Kirby tonight, nor can I believe my model likes Kirby.  Well, yes I can.  If he can keep the ball down he will have a 9 strikeout dominant performance with a ton of run support. Max Fried This isn’t an elite Fried type spot today but it’s a very safe one.  Colorado should produce lots of ground ball outs for him. [spacer height=”10px”] Other pitching notes The Fanduel pricing tonight is very good and anyone below say Lucas Giolito (who I don’t love but could have one of those 7 K, 5 ER games) is just not someone I want to even bother with.  Maybe Kutter Crawford could be a viable option for Boston (5500 on DK, 6400 on FD) but he’s more of a SP2 type with a limited ceiling. Cole Irvin has not been as good away from Oakland Taijuan Walker is the type of guy who shows up in a big spot, has certainly had some nice spots vs the Dodgers historically but rain, wind out to right and some Dodgers hitting well in Citi Field have me off him. Erick Fedde Erick Fedde and blah. [spacer height=”10px”] Seattle Mariners J-Rod, Winker, Haniger, Frazier Tigers young pitcher Matt Manning has had a fine second half to the season, but the Mariners are better than his last two opponents (SF/LAA) and come in with a bunch of hitters who are solid fastball and slider hitters. If they can knock him out and get some bad Tigers pen, the Mariners will score 10+ tonight. [spacer height=”10px”] Boston Red Sox Xander, Story, Devers, Verdugo Hello, this is me chasing a team I think should rake in Target Field.  Nothing more, nothing less. [spacer height=”10px”] Atlanta Braves Harris, Riley, Olson, d’Arnaud Shocked to see Ronnie Acuna sitting tonight as Jose Urena, the man who has plunked him twice, is coming into […]

The Dongers Club – August 29th

DraftKings has included the Senior Citizen’s Slate games on their MAIN slate tonight, making it an 8 game slate and that is the right thing to do no doubt.  This also means that we get white hot Mookie Betts and the Dodgers on the wrap around game in South Beach vs the Marlins. It also means we get the Cardinals going into their launching pad known as Great American Smallpark, but doing such after a late night home game last night. Sadly, neither of these games are on the FanDuel main slate tonight. [spacer height=”10px”] WEATHER There are no issues today. [spacer height=”10px”] FRANKE MONTAS After settling in with his new team Montas gets to return to a familiar spot, Anaheim and he gets the Angels who have Trout back in the lineup now but are still a team with a high amount of K% to pick on.  I think Montas pitches his best game as a Yankee today. MIKE CLEVINGER No the Padres are not a great team, they’re playing horrible Baseball and made some really stupid front office moves around the deadline.  Yes, the Padres are better than the Giants and Clevinger is the better pick per $ over Carlos Rodon in this game. CORBIN BURNES Burnes is just so good that he’ll find a way to finish with a 2x return on his price.  I wouldn’t bother with him on FanDuel at that spot because Pittsburgh will pop through a few hits to get 2-3 ER off him, but Burnes is going to get a good score still. [spacer height=”10px”] Pitching Notes The Dodgers have placed Tony Gonsolin on IL and will be starting Michael Grove for tonight’s game.  It’s worth mentioning on DraftKings as he is $4,000, is facing the Marlins and has been starting games in the minor leagues.  I haven’t seen any indication on a PC limit, but we can expect him to have ownership today.  IMO all it does is present possibly some Marlin… no, nevermind, lets just move on…  I won’t laugh if you use him solely for the intention of just playing Arenado and Goldy. [spacer height=”10px”] RED SOX Xander Bogaerts, JD Martinez, Rafael Devers, Trevor Story I am all in on Boston tonight.  Four, maybe five Red Sox are even in play here.  Former AL East whipping boy Dylan Bundy is on the bump tonight for Minnesota, and his ass […]

Sunday Dongers Club – August 28th

Today is the FINAL Sunday Dongers Club of 2022 and this is mostly because once NFL starts the MLB contests just go poof and there has never been much demand for MLB on Sunday’s then.  MLB will still continue around NFL to the end of the season and in the playoffs. Yes, I know there is still another Sunday without NFL next weekend. Go read the other article talking about Site News that I posted this morning.  I’m going on a Vacation starting on Saturday and thus next Sunday’s article and the articles for that week will be picked up by our September call-ups.  Hopefully they can do as good as Raul Mondesi always did in September but for now I must go out on Sunday with a bang. GIFTastic of Course… Alright, let’s open up this jar and see what we got. Max Scherzer vs the Rockies [spacer height=”10px”] Dylan Cease in a day game.  Shocker. Eric Lauer on a Sunday.  Shocker. Where is Logan Webb for some real Afternoon Delight? [spacer height=”10px”] Speaking of American League Cy Young’s, Justin Verlander is also pitching. So too is Kohei Arihara [spacer height=”10px”] Sean Manaea faces his old team the KC Royals.  Manaea was part of the Ben Zobrist trade to the Royals back in 2015.  A critical move that helped the Royals win the 2015 World Series.  Which really feels like forever ago at this point. The other lefties we have going today include a classic match-up between Nick Lodolololo and Patrick Corbin in DC and Tucker Davidson is getting to face the Blue Jays, good luck sir. [spacer height=”10px”] And then, ladies and gentlemen … We have …. Jacob Junis back on a Sunday vs an AL Central Team [spacer height=”10px”] WEATHER Mother Nature is not going to do any pissing on my Final Sunday of Baseball. We are all clear. [spacer height=”10px”] Dylan Cease has not thrown over 100 pitches since July 17th and after I called him out for never going more than 6 innings he had a 7 inning appearance vs the Twins on that day but hasn’t topped 6 IP total since then.  He is a great pitcher, he has a filthy slider and should still finish with 7+ strikeouts today, but 6 innings for 10.6k is tough to say you must have. Max Scherzer has the piss poor Rockies, but hey look, Ryan McMahon […]

AMBUSH Announcements

We have a lot of news and site updates to pass along to all of our loyal members and it’s all good as we approach what I consider to be the busy season in DFS and Fantasy. Yes, NFL is coming and College Football got things kicked off.  Along with some NASCAR, GOLF and of […]

The Dongers Club – Aug 27th

WEATHER Giants at Twins – Storms, could be off and on throughout game.  Hitters worth the risk. [spacer height=”10px”] This is very much a ‘Tiers’ kind of night on DraftKings.  Finding the right pitchers within tiers.  There are Five guys 9k and up and 9 guys from  7k to 8900 on DraftKings. Out of the guys in that second tier, I like … None of them.  Maybe a Sonny Gray ($8,400) or Zach Plesac (7,600).  The chalk is probably going to end up being Domingo German (7,100) who is coming off a great start at home and I want no part of him tonight. This sets up as either take two guys in the top tier (who I like below) or one and a cheap/punt value SP2.  The mid range should not burn us tonight by fading them. CHARLIE MORTON At this stage in the season Morton is not likely to have a blow up start and with Nolan Arenado being out on paternity leave to tend to the future next great Nolan Jr, we have a case where Morton can avoid someone driving in Goldy after he pitches around him tonight. Yes, the Cards will bring in more LHB but Morton should be able to handle them with his curve-ball tonight. YU DARVISH Yu is coming off paternity leave as well.  Assuming that Darvish doesn’t pitch with his head somewhere else tonight he should deliver 7 innings with 10+ strikeouts vs Kansas City.  His depth of pitches is going to give them issues and if you are worried about long lay-off with Darvish (9 days) he went 7 innings and struck out 9 vs the much better Mets after the all-star break. He should be just fine. [spacer height=”10px”] VALUE ARMS DANIEL LYNCH I am never opposed to taking risk for upside when it comes to cheap arms.  Daniel Lynch is exactly that.  If Lynch can work his slider for some swing and misses against Machado (25% K rate on Sliders) and Brandon Drury (41% K rate on sliders) then it sets up that he can stick with Darvish and have a great night. Lynch’s last five starts he has given up 3 ER, 0 ER, 4 ER, 0 ER and 3 ER….  So hey, I went to 3rd grade, that means 0 ER is next…  Right? PAOLO ESPINO Everyone tonight is fairly high priced on DraftKings for […]

CFB Tailgate – Week 0 – Aug 27

Welcome back College Football! We start things off with the infamous Week 0 slate and there are of course three games between FCS and FBS schools, which really waters down the slate in my mind on top of the fact that Week 0 & 1 are always a little funky overall. I will be working […]
