It really sucks that we miss out on the 6:40/6:45 start times as a 15 game full slate would be fantastic, especially with that Mets/Red Sox series being out of our sight but such is life. WEATHER Guardians at Twins:  PPD Mariners at White Sox:  Rain tapering off closer to game time but not completely stopping.  They could deem the field unplayable, otherwise if they will wait it will play. Nobody looks that great tonight.  The top arm is obviously Skubal & I have no issues with him but I don’t think you want to feel like he’s a must own at that high price and without a ton of good value arms or even bats. DYLAN CEASE (DK: $8800, FD: $9900) When you have a guy who is conditioned to throwing 100+ pitches with ease against Toronto you gotta be interested.  Bichette and some others are free swingers in this lineup, which helps to pad what should be a game that Cease has early run support in as well. HAYDEN BIRDSONG (DK: $6300) There’s definitely a ceiling limit on Birdsong, but the Royals aren’t going to blow him up & we’re likely to see what you saw last night in many games tonight.  In this game, that would be an under which is 1-0 or 0-0 at best through 5 innings. MICHAEL LORENZEN (DK: $8200, FD: $9700) With some key injuries the Royals need Lorenzen to give them good starts right now.  A big park, a mediocre Giants lineup vs RHP and another low scoring game should be in the cards tonight. OTHER PITCHING THOUGHTS Keegan Akin will be drawing the start for Baltimore.  If he was more stretched out we would actually not hate it.  Trust me.  We hate it.  They’ll then turn to Chace McDermott (RHP) after him.  It should be ugly for the Orioles once more. WEATHER Guardians at Twins:  This could definitely be a PPD scenario with rain coming in, but tomorrow is bad and they have a day game on Wednesday which they most likely won’t turn into a double header.  I think this one plays and it only really matters for the hitting options – which aren’t that ideal since it’s below 60 degrees here too. Tigers at Cardinals:  Severe storms, expect chances of a delay but a wait it out and try to get the game in.  Again, only hitting is relevant   KRIS BUBIC (DK: $9700, FD: $10.5k) For the narratives crowd this one is a good one.  Bubic is a California boy who grew up just south of San Francisco and went to college at Stanford.  He has made two prior starts in San Francisco and both were very good — considering he wasn’t as good in prior seasons as he has become now.  I know a 2-0 type game when I see one and this Bubic/Ray game should be one that dominates ownership for pitching tonight.  Give me Bubic as the 1a choice with Robbie Ray after dark being 1b. ROBBIE RAY (DK: $10k, FD: $10.2k) The only down side here is that it’s obviously difficult to stack both these guys and then load up on Coors or DBacks/Dodgers hitters which is where most will want to go today.  But the Royals aren’t getting enough offensively outside of Witt and Maikel right now to expect them to torment Ray today … Although, mother fuckers, I swear the Salvador Perez hot streak is coming. OTHER PITCHING THOUGHTS Christopher Sanchez is definitely an option.  You get a discount off Bubic/Ray and face a terrible offense even if they’re in friendly Coors Field. WEATHER No issues but lots of wind except in Wrigley where it’s blowing in finally FREDDY PERALTA (DK: $9700, FD: $9700) All in on everything Milwaukee related.  You dont bet against a streak they say, well, you also dont bet on the Colorado Rockies and look how that worked out last night, am I right?  Anyways.  The ace takes the mound and the Twins are going to push their luck with Matthews on the other side.  Milwaukee wins in a HUGE way today & Peralta is going to mow through the Twins lineup. SHANE BAZ (DK: $8300, FD: $8800) One of the likely safer spots has to be Shane Baz.  A guy I have never been huge on, but we’re not worried about the long balls being down in Miami with the roof likely closed. SUNDAY SLEEPERS Zach Eflin and Michael Wacha OTHER PITCHING THOUGHTS Cant even consider paying 8k for Mick Abel making his debut.  Wanted too, but that would be at 5k, not 8k when he wont get through 5.  In the same game, Skenes will continue to get better and has the chance to have his look at me start for 2025. I don’t hate either Framber Valdez (Rangers not great vs LHP) or Jack Leiter in the game that is “early” but on the main slate.   This builds up as a slate with lots of 2 run homers and that’s all you get for the inning.  The pitching is bad enough that nobody is avoiding their tough matchups but good enough that they’ll avoid the Tanner Houck stat line. Well, the moment of truth is here.  It’s “rivalry” weekend around Baseball and school is out in some areas and while the official start of summer is still a ways off we do have a holiday weekend coming up next weekend and now is the time to draw fans out to the ballparks. Lets see if my overs theory comes true. WEATHER ATL at BOS:  Slight chance of showers, more likely later in the game. NYM at NYY:  Same deal here, more likely to get a light drizzle that they play through COL at ARI:  Roof OPEN We are not starved of some quality pitchers and especially of the southpaw side.  Crochet, Ragans, Gore, Sale.  Four of which are guys I always like and then there is … Carlos fricken Rodon against the Mets?  Oh man, if ever there was a series to spike things up with a 13-10 final, that would be it. MACKENZIE GORE (DK: $8600, FD: $9700) I don’t love that Baltimore is home after another home series – but Gore is settled in and the Orioles are far from that.  They look like a team just waiting for the manager to get fired & have hit just .175 against LHP over the last 10 days with 1 – yes 1 home run.  Basically until Mountcastle and O’Neill get hot, you can use a lefty against them. JOE RYAN (DK: $9500, FD: $10.2k) Someone who has long been a nemesis of mine.  The Twins lost two core guys last night who are always injured, so run support could disappear in what was going to be a nice spot for them offensively.  They’ll have to get Ryan’s gems to continue to keep their long streak alive. OVER-HYPED PITCHERS vs BAD TEAMS Go through the entire slate tonight and identify two pitchers in the same price range that fit this criteria.  Yep, you got it.  It is as clear as day that these two are going to be considered by many and used by none.  We should be buying into that as well, and I would play them together to be honest if you did go here.  Why?  They save you a ton of $ to stack the pricey teams (i.e. Mets, Yankees, Dodgers).  I like, nor trust, either long term.  But they’re both really solid options for getting you a 15-18 point outting for minimal price. WEATHER There are no weather issues today, thankfully since it is just a four game slate in the afternoon, which features four really good parks for hitting. With a four game slate we have been presented the path of looking at a gamestack pitching scenario and the divisional game up in Toronto is the one that’s the easiest to do this with.  Gausman should be the universal SP1 today – his overall numbers this year have been down but when he is on there’s nobody else on this slate who should touch him. Chris Paddack going into Camden Yards is tempting, the guy is not a good pitcher, but he continues to manage to not get blown up.  I’ll pass though given some nice warm weather in Camden. Both the White Sox and Reds lineups are train wrecks at the moment.  Go both pitchers there if you want to have a second lineup. KEVIN GAUSMAN (DK: $8800, FD: $9500) ZACK LITTELL (DK: $7500, FD: $8300)   So they are all looking fairly good today with the Twins and Braves being the top ranked spots.  Minnesota is white hot and draws a non strikeout arm in Sugano, while the Braves, well, they’re the Braves.  You know the drill there. Cincinnati is the team that just continues to baffle me.  The lineup is not constructed right and I’m not sure how much longer Tito is going to wait until he decides to move Elly De La Cruz up to #1 like he did with Lindor back in the day.  It has to happen soon and it would spark the lineup which should then go McLain, Lux, Steer, Friedl, Stephenson, Hays, Benson and then let the most attractive female from the crowd come up and hit instead of Santiago Espinal.  Just because he has a cool name doesn’t mean the dude should be hitting second.  Please, I beg you Tito. My ‘Team’ Rankings Cincinnati:  Fuck it, going back here.  Call me crazy.  Wilson has allowed 4 HR in 77 PA to RHH, a .417 xWOBA and .247 ISO to the RHH.  This helps with Lux and EDLC being good against RHP as well so the lineup might piece together some big innings.  And by big innings, I mean a man on base who then scores.  That would be huge. WEATHER PIT @ NYM:  More rain early in the day today could make things a PPD decision here, but guess is they’ll play. YOSHINOBU YAMAMOTO (DK: $10,500, FD: $10,600) I expect Yoshinobu Yamamoto to throw an absolute GEM tonight for the Dodgers.  The perception on the Athletics (yes, they’re legit young kids) being a tough out and his most recent performance being mediocre should warrant this being a spot he isn’t more than 17-20% owned.  After the big Athletics win last night, you go back here and know he will give you 6 maybe 7 and lots of swings and misses. NICK LODOLO (DK: $8700, FD: $9700) Nick will try to put together back to back good starts against a team hitting .173 against LHP over the last 10 days and on the season they’re among the worst (as we know).  A heavy amount of RHH though is something that can make his night a little shorter, but all & all we’re expecting him to have one of his big strikeout performances as he has the highest matchup K% on the slate. OTHER PITCHING THOUGHTS CLAY HOLMES:  Fine to use, weather permitting.
