The Dongers Club – July 26th

Like I said, I didn’t like a pitcher or any stacks last night.  Holy crap lets not do that Monday again please?  It appears the dog days of August definitely came early and in hindsight we probably should have seen any team traveling for games yesterday being a little dicey, as lots of home teams wound up winning except for the -330 favored Dodgers of course. [spacer height=”10px”] WEATHER We appear to be free and clear of any PPD risk again on this Tuesday evening which brings of an 84 degree game in Coors Field between the visiting Chicago team from the American League which is very under-priced on both sites.  This is the only game where a shower or two could roll through and cause a delay. [spacer height=”10px”] LUIS H GARCIA Oakland has won three out of four and took the opener last night from Houston because Houston decided to let Odorizzi continue to pitch in Major League Baseball.  Idiots.  Expect 6 innings of almost no hit ball from Garcia tonight.  Lots of ground ball outs and lazy pop flys. MIKE CLEVINGER After the scolding that Manaea ownership took last night we could see Sunshine come in as a guy that gets overlooked against those same pesky Tigers.  He’s a better graded SP than Manaea was last night for sure, and that’s not a way of backing off the pick yesterday but we knew the SP slate was trash yesterday and went with it. This isn’t that.  Clevinger is far beyond his limitations coming off major injury and gets a RH heavy lineup in the heart of the order, he should have a 7 to 8 strikeout performance tonight. SHANE McCLANAHAN I am driving the bandwagon which says Shane slows down in the second half as he runs into an innings wall.  But there isn’t a single Oriole tonight who I like and they have a 27% DCPA strikeout matchup vs Shane.  He should get through one more start tonight with solid results. SPENCER STRIDER I have wrote about guys like Strider and Cease needing to show that they can go deep into games without just trying to strike out the side and I don’t know that we’re gonna see that yet from Strider, but the Phils do have a high K% vs RHP and after giving up 5 ER in his last outing maybe Strider can match […]

The Dongers Club – July 25th

Monday brings to us an 11 game MAIN slate with a lot of balance on it. [spacer height=”10px”] WEATHER Some games will have storm/delay potential tonight but all are VERY low on the risk scale Braves at Phillies – The one game with SP that are in consideration Rays at Orioles Angels at Royals [spacer height=”10px”] There is no ‘free square’ or easy button SP today against a bad opponent.  Yes, Tony Gonsolin and the Dodgers are going to be chalk given that they are heavy favorites vs the poor Nationals (who just won) but this doesn’t feel like a game where you must have Gonsolin given the Nationals lack of strikeout upside and also that the Dodgers probably shouldn’t push Gonsolin too far. SEAN MANAEA The only reason on avoiding Manaea today is that the Tigers are staying home from Sunday to Monday while the Padres were in New York for the late game last night, but that shouldn’t be an impact on his performance specifically because no sane team would have kept him in New York last night, right?  I certainly hope they aren’t that dumb. Anyways, that’s the only risk here, the Tigers are an otherwise middle of the road opponent for Manaea who can get deeper than normal given their low walk rates. JT BRUBAKER With the wind blowing in at Wrigley we go there to see who wants to play Pirates/Cubs pitcher roulette tonight and I am on the Buccos arm.  Everything about these two is very similar except when Brubaker is on he can have 20-30% strike-out rates while Sampson at best is going to K 4 maybe 5 Pirates if he is pitching long enough.  Gimme the J.T. Brubaker law offices to steal this traffic court case of a game. [spacer height=”10px”] Update – Merrill Kelly will now start for Arizona.  We’ll need to see how the Giants react to this but he’s just like everyone else on this slate which is Blah, but I would give him the nod as the third best option. [spacer height=”10px”] Other Options Max Fried and Nick Pivetta were all in consideration for me today but Fried at 10.5 with some weather challenges – and since he can’t get Realmuto out – should not top Manaea today and I can’t trust a single thing related to Boston right now so no thank you on Pivetta. If you […]

Sunday Dongers Club – July 24th

Welcome to another edition of the Sunday Dongers Club.  Don’t blink, but we’re running out of Sundays for MLB Dongers Club enjoyment and I smell a big 5 figure win coming for the Daily Ambush family one of these fine Sunday’s. Ya’ll gotta like my encouragement sometimes right?  Always optimistic unless I have money on the home team in an extra inning game, or I bet the White Sox, or what the hell was Kevin Cash doing putting so many lefties in that lineup last night. Yes, I had my article done before the Rays lineup came out and scrambled to make edits removing Arozarena and Paredes from it and thus didn’t force in Singer who is one of my favorite pitchers.  Oh well, we still did good and the Chairman is 2 for 2 on full slates post ASB.  Time for a hat trick today. [spacer height=”10px”] WEATHER All games will play and it’s most definitely hotter than tits on a monkey and we have lots of Thunderstorm chances today as well. Games with wind over 10MPH out include: Toronto at Boston (to center field) Miami at Pittsburgh (to left) St. Louis at Cincinnati (to left) Minnesota at Detroit (cross wind to left) Cleveland at Chicago (to the left) [spacer height=”10px”] There is a ton to digest today on the pitching front, so a good number of options but a clear Cy Young at the top. SANDY ALCANTARA No south beach theory here because the game is in Pittsburgh.  All I can think about when it comes to Pittsburgh nightlife is Sidney Crosby doing stand-up at some club which is probably infested with MonkeyPox or something gross, so yeah, there’s none of that.  Nor is there any Jack Suwinski or Daniel Vogelbach on the Pirates anymore, which is just a damn tragedy my friends. Load up on Sandy, who should be 13k today. IAN ANDERSON DraftKings algo thinks that Mike Trout is in the lineup today because he would obviously go 4-4 against Ian Anderson, but they must not realize it’s late July and Trout is too busy doing fantasy football research and implementing a scoring system which includes Offensive Line scoring and points for sitting on the bench in a 40 point blowout so that he can draft Cam Jurgens and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside in the 4th and 5th rounds. Instead the Angels will have Michael Stefanic, Jo Adell, […]

The Dongers Club – July 23rd (Main)

Nine game Main slate tonight. [spacer height=”10px”] WEATHER Roof should be closed in Milwaukee [spacer height=”10px”] I think we will see some good pitching performances tonight.  There’s a bunch of guys who will get through 6 innings on this slate and produce, so the top end names like Cole and Woodruff are not on my radar. CHRIS BASSITT So maybe I had my New York streams mixed up & it will be the Mets who get swept to start the second half?  Nah, couldn’t be.  Bassitt is my guy and his sinker will be doing what all sinkers vs the Padres do.  Winning us money in DFS.  Sub 10k price for the hound dog at home.  Check please! KYLE WRIGHT Angels + Strike Out Pitcher = We can and should look here.  Kyle Wright is VERY comfortable pitching at home and if the ball moves vs the Angels they aren’t hitting it.  So his recent form of high CSW% outings should continue today. ANIBAL SANCHEZ Because this is a thin pitching slate you can afford to pay down on your second pitcher tonight.  Sanchez might feel Dirty but … ah fuck, I swear I did not do that on purpose it just came out naturally and…  Well I can’t keep writing about this anymore, so let’s just move on and trust me, he’s a fine dog to back … okay, alright, that’s enough, lets move on. [spacer height=”10px”] Other Options Patrick Sandoval This is the time of year when I used Patrick Sandoval to win 50k on a Saturday night when he was a road dog.  The Braves are most definitely the type of team that can make an opposing starter look good but they just don’t lose to lefties.  If anything he can be your wild card arm tonight. Max Meyer We don’t need to get cute with the young prospect here tonight who at $6,800 is priced appropriately. [spacer height=”10px”] There are two mid west games I am on tonight for all the offensive production and that’s where most of my plays will be. BREWERS Yelich, Adames, Tellez So you have been waiting for Jose Urena-Goat to get blown up have you? Well, here you go my friends, turn on the game in the first inning when he loads the bases and lets in 3 Brewers runs.  However, in typical Milwaukee fashion I am sure that they will […]

The Dongers Club – July 22nd

A nice little start yesterday to get into the second half and it should be just as strong ast the first half. Outside of Baseball, we’ll have some NFL and College Football Content coming out in August slowly building up to those regular seasons but they will not deter at all from the Dongers Club and Baseball since sports in Regular Season mode take priority always over those in pre-season mode. [spacer height=”20px”] WEATHER Very warm and all games play on tonight’s 13 game MAIN slate which does not include the Cardinals and Reds sadly. LAA at ATL:  Chance of Thunderstorms [spacer height=”20px”] We go into the first full slate of the second half with some big name pitchers as one would expect given that they’ve been off for 4+ days and team can reset their rotations. MAX SCHERZER While Max isnt’ the prototypical pitcher who can dominate the Padres, he is at home and he still will manage to have a game which produces 7+ strikeouts.  It’s 90 with 10 MPH out to center so the chances of Mazara, Cronenworth or Voit taking him deep are good but he will do what Max does.  7 innings, 7+ K and no more than 3 ER. CORBIN BURNES This is the second consecutive start for Burnes in which he is coming off a week+ of rest and last time all he did was throw 115 pitches over 7 1/3 vs San Francisco, striking out 10 and putting up 30+ DK points. While Colorado is a team who I think can do damage this weekend in Milwaukee, they are not opposed to helping out the opposing SP with strikeouts and their best chances to do harm are with Burnes walking guys, which he hasn’t been doing in his recent home starts. KYLE GIBSON One of my second half predictions is that the Phillies make it into the playoffs and Kyle Gibson going on a 4 game winning streak to start the second half is going to be a big reason why. He starts that tonight vs the Cubs who were most definitely enjoying their Summer Break and won’t be ready tonight. SPENCER HOWARD I am going to go ahead and push the GO button on my Rangers second half bets.  One of the BUY’s I have on this team is someone I have been dead set against for a long time and […]

The Dongers Club – July 21st

Alright, we are back! What the hell is this crap of a schedule for today? This is like going to a Metallica concert and finding out that the Gin Blossoms are opening up.  I mean, you’ll listen to them, they aren’t the worst thing in the world, but we didn’t come here for Rangers-Marlins or a Tigers-Athletics double header now did we? It’s Baseball though, and at least it is AFTERNOON Baseball in the summer which is rare these days. So here is what we have, we have a THREE game slate synchronicity which includes: Tigers at Athletics – G1 of the double header Yankees at Astros – G1 of the double header … Amazing that they’re just sweeping Yanks at Astros under the rug here. Rangers at Marlins – Island game, they don’t play tomorrow.  So this begs the obvious question.  Did the Rangers non all-stars get to fly to Miami ahead of time on their own to spend their ASB in south beach? [spacer height=”20px”] WEATHER All games are fine. [spacer height=”20px”] As of the time I am writing this the Yankees probable starter is between Taillon or Jordan Montgomery.  Neither of which will be among the top options today. JON GRAY Crazy that Gray is now one of the more consistent and reliable pitchers in the game, but not having every other start in Coors Field might just be a good thing for him (who knew!).  Gray is dominating RHH so far this season with a 28% K rate against them and he’ll see a heavy RHH lineup today as Jazz Chisholm Jr remains out for Miami. TARIK SKUBAL The park size combined with an opponent who is very bad 1-9 vs Sliders means that Skubal is in line for a 20+ point game this afternoon.  He is someone to be very optimistic about in the second half as well. PABLO LOPEZ The Rangers are one of my potential second half sleeper teams, but that would come in August or September most likely.  Given that Lopez pitches very well at home, I would consider him over anyone else as a third option today and think he is good leverage vs chalky Jon Gray on FanDuel. [spacer height=”12px”] YANKEES Stanton – Rizzo – Hicks Even though Cristian Javier was able to no-hit the Yankees a few weeks back Im not envisioning things going very smoothly today.  They should hit […]

MLB Second Half Preview

Welcome to what we call the Dog Days of Summer, the time from post All-Star Break up until Labor Day when Baseball to me is that soothing element in life which gets us through this quiet period in the world.  Ha.  Quiet period in the world, who is this guy writing this garbage? But seriously, […]

PGA DFS Dew Sweeper – 3M Open

THE 3M OPEN I have an announcement to make!  I’m quitting Daily Ambush and the DP World Tour because I no longer feel “loved”! I’ve hired Sergio Garcia as my agent and he will pout at will in order to justify his bad play and my bad picks!  Come on folks!  I get it!  I […]

Sunday Dongers Club – July 17th

Unfortunately, we have no MLB for a few days after today.  It has been a fantastic first half this season and I am glad you have all joined along for the ride as we improve every year more and more. Yes, there are additional sports beyond Baseball, which is obviously my favorite, including our most dominant Dashboard the College Football model, which will be coming in late August and then NFL right after that. But for now, it remains Baseball season, even with a little break coming up this week. So go spend some time with your better half if you have one with Baseball gone and make the most of that time. Then on Tuesday when you realize that is why you were playing DFS in the first place we can do some donkey bets on the all star game, okay? I do have good news though.  This year MLB has a larger Thursday after the all star break schedule because of the delay to start the season among other things and so we’ll be back on Thursday, July 21st with a Dongers Club post the ASB to Ambush everyone else with. For now though, lets close out with a good Sunday for a change. [spacer height=”20px”] WEATHER Storms in and around Cleveland between the Tigers and Guardians Storms in and around St. Louis between the Reds and Cardinals Tempers flaring up in DC between the Braves and the Nationals Winds in with high humidity in Chicago for Mets and Cubs [spacer height=”20px”] Oh we got all kinds of pitching options today.  We got your top end guys and we got your mid range Sunday Sleepers.  It’s a quality pitching slate which is funneling the offense into a one off type of slate. SHANE BEIBER We finally have Beiber against the Tigers without a rain delay, without a PPD and make-up scenario, son of a bitch it’s gonna rain.  Why?  Why does every Beiber start vs the Tigers this year bring rain with it?  Unreal. Cleveland has been $$$ to me all weekend and today we want to back the pitching in a lower scoring game behind their ace who only needed 95 pitches to go 9 IP vs Chicago in his last start and pitches well at home.  If the weather looks clear then Beiber should be able to dominate, but unfortunately, it doesn’t, so I just wasted […]
