The Dongers Club – May 25th

We are on to Cincinnati… WEATHER I have a good feeling that all games wind up playing tonight. Cubs at Reds – Rain here, they usually get games in through the rain in Cincy though but this is a divisional game so the risk is higher. Phillies at Braves – It’s kinda ugly and again a divisional game so the risk is increased a good amount Red Sox at White Sox – I believe they’ll play through rain [spacer height=”20px”] oh, it’s bad …  Kyle Hendricks in a park he has done good and horrific in vs Luis Castillo.  We’re not touching either so let’s just keep on walking and looking and hey, there is a guy with three names starting for the Yankees and two of them are first names and the other is a department store which I think has gone out of business five times.  John Patrick Sears.  What a fucking name on that douchebag, ole JP. And the other major rain games have Dick Mountain, Lucas Giolito, Charlie Morton and Ranger Suarez.  Some actual, viable pitching options if you want to take gambles on any of them through the rain it would be the steakhouse, Morton’s. DREW RASMUSSEN (FD) I am far more comfortable with Rass vs a RH dominant Marlins lineup in Costco South.  When he is on he gets high pt/PA which is critical since he also does not go very deep into games.  But on this slate with some weather uglyness he is the least likely to blow up. CHARLIE MORTON (DK) and RANGER SUAREZ (DK) Let’s try to stomach another rough night of pitching on DraftKings but do it with a game that has two of the three highest K% teams over the last week in it and two pitchers who typically will give their teams enough length to work through any batters that get on base.  This is a rare time when I recommend to anyone does more than one lineup to build a second lineup on DK that has Detmers & Javier and then come back and stack hitters in this game.  So long as this one plays (rain) we should get 30+ DK points out of these two and that might win it tonight. [spacer height=”20px”] This is very much a good night to pick a stack and ride it.  With some questionable starting pitching we can see a […]

The Dongers Club – May 25th (Early)

WEATHER Four games early and all of them will play without any issues. [spacer height=”20px”] ROBBIE RAY Ray gets a more comfortable spot with the Athletics today in his home park.  After two below 2021 level Robbie Ray performances we should have that Cy Young type game today against Oakland.  His price is low on DK due to his last two starts, but feel comfortable using him. JULIO URIAS I will go Urias over Darvish today for my second pitcher.  He really should be able to shut down Juan Soto and with a cooler game in DC today I would buy into Urias who is coming off his best start of the season.  Darvish is very close but Rowdy Tellez is a really big problem for him, literally. [spacer height=”20px”] Giants, Dodgers, Mariners are the top ranked teams for me today with the Padres having some nice one offs. We have Mookie Betts who is playing from a fricken tree right now and expected heavy ownership on the Dodgers.  After the beating last night, it will be hard to sit there and fade them but on a four game slate I don’t see why you wouldn’t just fade the majority.  Muncy and Freeman are my two that I really like but there are other 1B who grade out well, so just take Max Muncy and hope he joins Mookie up in the tree house finally. The Giants are coming off two high scoring games with the Mets and draw Thomas Szapucki for however long he is going to start in this one.  They obviously are great vs LHP and so a Giants top of the order righty stack makes sense (Longoria, Flores, Ruf) Seattle will win today, take that to the bank and eventually we’re going to see Jesse Winkers price go back up.  He and Crawford (last nights Chairman) are core plays from the Mariners. [spacer height=”20px”] CATCHER Austin Nola Omar Narvaez FIRST BASE Rowdy Tellez Freddie Freeman Eric Hosmer SECOND BASE Max Muncy Adam Frazier THIRD BASE Manny Machado Evan Longoria SHORTSTOP Francisco Lindor JP Crawford OUTFIELD – Mt Rushmore Mookie Betts Jesse Winker Jurickson Profar Dom Smith [spacer height=”20px”] Max Muncy – 2B – Dodgers – Chairman of The Early Dongers Club Rowdy Tellez – 1B – Brewers [spacer height=”20px”] CORE PLAYS SP1 – Robbie Ray SP2 – Julio Urias 2B – Max Muncy 3B – Manny […]

PGA Dew Sweeper: Charles Schwab

Charles Schwab Challenge Major #2 is in the books!  Not the winner anyone would have expected at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, but we’ve also seen JT do that before.  I had a really good lineup going in the $200 SE, but Keegan Bradley never really got it going and Ryan Fox decided to go pin-hunting […]

The Dongers Club – May 24th

Alright, we are starting up the three round May Dongers Club Appreciation Contest and below is tonight’s link to join and enter. May Dongers Club Appreciation Contest (Day 1 of 3) – Enter Here TODAYS LINEUP RULE Chug Tuesday!  Any player in your lineup who is $3,500 or below that is 10% or less owned in the contest that hits a HR will give you 14 bonus points (for every HR hit). [spacer height=”20px”] Here are the basic Standings Rules: This contest is going to run today (5/24), Friday (5/27) and next Tuesday (5/31). Your combined score from all three days is going to go towards your overall score. [spacer height=”20px”] If you fail to enter on a day, you will receive the total points from the Pirates lineup for that day or the 10th place score from those who did actually show up and play — whichever is lower. Here are the Day by Day Specific Rules Tuesday, May 24th (TODAY!!!):  Chug Tuesday – See above Friday, May 27th:  Chairman Bonus … If you play the Chairman and he homers, you get 2x his points.  If you fade the Chairman and he doesn’t homer, you get 2x the points of the player at the same position (The Chairman will not be an OF) Tuesday, May 31st:   ISO Tuesday — You cannot have more than 1 player from any game in your lineup (** weather pending there are at least 10 games that play **) [spacer height=”20px”] WEATHER This looks like a quiet weather night.  Nothing too heavy anywhere which could cause a PPD and most of the Roofs are likely going to be closed.  We don’t have any extremely warm games and we don’t have any games which are impacted by wind. One spot with some showers coming in will be Toronto/St. Louis but its stormy/rolling in late.  Should play fine. Chase Field is listed as closed (not that it mattered last night) Houston roof should be closed Seattle roof shouldn’t matter much [spacer height=”20px”] Pitching will control this slate tonight.  There’s a high volume of depth options who are all fairly low blow-up risk but many of which are not in automatic smash spots either. Up top we have Burnes, Cease, Bassitt, Gausman, Gallen, Buehler and Fried all within the same range of each other while there are some viable cheaper pitchers that many will want to take […]

The Dongers Club – May 23rd

We kick things off on what should be a better week this week and it’s because this is May Appreciation Contest Week! Look for the first contest to be tomorrow a fine random Tuesday, May the 24th with round two being on Friday and then the third round being May 31st. Contest rules will be officially announced tomorrow but the contest will be weighted based upon how the Chairman Does in each of those nights.  Look, it’s a free contest for you and I am the one paying out the prizes, so I am going to make up the crazy rules how I see fit. Remember to use our new and improved Daily Lineups page for information on starting lineups and a quick snapshot of the match-ups. MLB Lineups Page – Daily Ambush [spacer height=”20px”] WEATHER All games play, unless of course they don’t. We could see a delay in Washington or Atlanta, but both are pretty low risk IMO. Roof closed in Arizona.  Greinke must be in town! [spacer height=”20px”] Last Monday I mentioned that we likely were going into a week of Mt. Rushmore negative numbers from pitchers.  Well, I personally think I found one a day and am glad to say that is out of our system now.  Hopefully nobody is breaking down from our selection pool this week, but it sure does feel like the pitchers are breaking down lately. The other thing which continues to stand out to me is that your going to be in the running each night if you simply take two good pitchers (assuming they dont have shoulder issues like Peralta) and ride them for 60 fantasy points as a nice floor.  The days of needing that stack that put up 12 runs and 3 homers just aren’t consistent. [spacer height=”12px”] ZACK WHEELER So all of that leads me into Wheeler and Cole below this.  These two are facing offenses that have high strike-out upside on them and for Wheeler he is trending up in terms of his usage and durability as he got a late start and is now looking like his 2021 dominant self. Atlanta chases a good amount and all nine hitters have K% rates vs RHP sliders that are above 20%.  Look for a potential 10+ K game from Wheeler today. ADRIAN HOUSER Prior to yesterday vs Alex Wood, the Padres had not beaten up any SP […]

Sunday Dongers Club – May 22nd

Welcome to another Sunday in The Dongers Club, a big afternoon with a couple very warm spots and then still some below average weather situations out there.  We have FanDuel out here trying to throw back time as they have included two extra games on their Main slate today and DraftKings continues to act like FanDuel without the 3PM window of games. That just means that DraftKings is truly appreciating our desire to enter a quality Sunday Tilt Slate before the Tilt-Tilt Showdown slate and I applaud them for that. Remember to use our new and improved Daily Lineups page for information on starting lineups and a quick snapshot of the match-ups. MLB Lineups Page – Daily Ambush [spacer height=”20px”] WEATHER All games play and here are the games which have the warmest conditions. Camden Yards:  Rays at Orioles – Near 90 degrees, wind slightly out to right center. Fenway Park:  Mariners at Red Sox – Mid 80’s, wind out to the monster. Citizens Bank Park:  Dodgers at Phillies – Mid 80’s, wind out to right field. It is a big drop off after that with games in the 50’s/60’s in most other non dome spots.  We could actually see them open the roof in Toronto, Miami and Houston today though which would help hitters in Miami and Houston.  Milwaukee is iffy but the wind is blowing out there which could come into play if they leave the roof open all game. [spacer height=”20px”] There are a couple interesting pitchers in the warm weather games, specifically Logan Gilbert and Nathan Eovaldi in Fenway Park and I have zero desire to use a pitcher in that stadium with that weather and how the ball has played this season in Fenway compared to the rest of the league.  Eovaldi of course is coming off a horrific start against Houston and is prime to have a bounce back game with a good number of strikeouts or he just continues to have zero vertical movement and gets lit up again. Loan Gilbert will power his way through 5 innings but I don’t see how he doesn’t give up 3-4 ER vs Boston right now and so we’re just ignoring both these guys due to risk but I do acknowledge they are good and have upside. Meanwhile the Reds are starting their head grounds keeper, it’s wild that they brought him with them into Toronto […]

The Dongers Club – May 21st – Main

Remember to use our new and improved Daily Lineups page for information on starting lineups and a quick snapshot of the match-ups. MLB Lineups Page – Daily Ambush [spacer height=”20px”] WEATHER All games play [spacer height=”20px”] JUSTIN VERLANDER Is going well over 20 DK fantasy points which is a fantastic floor with upside into the mid 30’s and a price tag that isnt 12k.  Houston is winning tonight and they’re going to do it behind Verlander going 7 to 8 strong. BRANDON WOODRUFF Woody isn’t grading out great but he has been very good at getting swings and misses from lefties.  The K upside doesn’t match Verlander but pairing these two together is a pretty comfortable feeling today. [spacer height=”12px”] OAKLAND VALUE Lorenzen has been decent but not against the lefties and this park helps out LHB.  Seth Brown (2400), Tony Kemp (2900) Jed Lowrie (2300) is at the top of my radar today because that’s the pairing with the two stud SP’s above. MILWAUKEE BREWERS Uber chalk team against Patrick Corbin tonight.  Hard to ignore the RHB here, specifically Renfroe and McCutchen. [spacer height=”20px”] CATCHER …. Where is Adley DraftKings????   CMON. Just punt this position tonight. FIRST BASE Ji Man Choi Seth Brown SECOND BASE Jose Altuve Jorge Polanco THIRD BASE Alex Bregman Tyler Nevin SHORTSTOP Luis Urias Ramon Urias OUTFIELD – Mt Rushmore Mike Trout Yordan Alvarez Christian Yelich Hunter Renfroe OUTFIELD – Value Yonathan Daza Andrew McCutchen Anthony Santander Mark Canha [spacer height=”20px”] Hunter Renfroe – OF – Brewers – Chairman of The Dongers Club Mike Trout – OF – Angels Seth Brown – 1B – Athletics Alex Bregman – 3B – Astros Christian Yelich – OF – Brewers [spacer height=”20px”] CORE PLAYS Verlander Hunter Renfroe Oakland Value (Also some leverage here) [spacer height=”20px”] OWNERSHIP BREAKDOWN I would ignore Coors Field ownership tonight and let others make a mistake with Montas, Lorenzen and Joe Ryan as I do not see those three coming close to Verlander and Woodruff. [spacer height=”20px”] BETTING PLAYS The Astros, Brewers and Angels are not losing tonight, thank you for coming to my TED talk… Orioles ML Angels ML Astros ML Brewers ML Twins ML [spacer height=”20px”]

The Dongers Club – May 21st – Early

If at any point you enjoyed last night then you either just randomly picked some shit out of thin air or are a freak.  And I mean that as a compliment to be honest, because it has little to do with getting players or teams or anything right versus wrong and everything to do with the lack of quality Baseball last night. And by last night I of course mean, most of this season as at some point we have to maybe call a spade a spade and say that these guys just aren’t that good. No, this isn’t going to turn into some long rant about how back in my day Baseball was filled with guys who played the right way or yada yada yada, someone go grab me another Lemonade because it’s hot out. No, I’m just saying look, these guys just can’t fucking hit. It’s not the weather.  It shouldn’t be the humidors (*although I am quickly working on a conspiracy related to this*) and it’s not spider tack or velocities being too high.  Nope. These guys just fucking suck at hitting.   Can someone please explain to me why the Philadelphia Phillies cannot hit or score in a good offensive park in the National League?  What the hell is going on there? If the offense doesn’t wake up soon then I am not sure it will all season. Today is a busy day for Baseball DFS with the two rain outs making a bigger early slate on DraftKings.  I was originally planning to just cover tonight’s MAIN slate but I’ll break down both the Early and Main slates with two articles. This one is obviously the Early slate article. Remember to use our new and improved Daily Lineups page for information on starting lineups and a quick snapshot of the match-ups. MLB Lineups Page – Daily Ambush [spacer height=”20px”] WEATHER White Sox at Yankees No issues after last nights rain out. Diamondbacks at Cubs Light rain gradually coming into play during the game.  My guess is that they will manage to play through it and I would also bank on them having a few less homers in this game today with the wind blowing in at 10 mph. Reds at Blue Jays Roof could be open this afternoon up in Toronto Mets at Rockies It’s cold but no snow during the game. Padres at Giants 1PM Local start and bright clear […]

The Dongers Club – May 20th

Friday MLB DFS is the best kind of MLB DFS and you can never change my mind on this fact.  The summer time weather is rolling in and although next weekend is a 3-day holiday weekend for many I still contest that any day when there are 15 baseball games and a 2:20 PM EST Wrigley Field home game that we should mark that as the beginning of an unofficial 2.5 day weekend for every hard working American. Shoot, we’ll even let the Canadiens in on this since they have a home game tonight and we have warm weather everywhere …. except for Coors Field.  What in the wide world of weather is going on in Colorado where it’s now 32 degrees and SNOWING?  Oh, the Polar Bear must be in town of course and so we’ll likely be able to cross off Mets-Rockies from our radar this weekend as they deal with snow.  In May. From a DFS perspective there are 2 games on the Senior Citizen’s Slate with the Cardinals/Pirates (bet the over!) and the Braves/Marlins playing in the earlier time window and thus are not on the main slates tonight. [spacer height=”20px”] WEATHER NYM at COL:   PPD – Snow. CWS at NYY:   PPD – YES!!!!! Much warmer, a little humid and wind blowing out in a few spots – most notably LAD at PHI:  Upper 70’s, wind out to left center. TB at BAL:  Mid 80’s, wind out to left center. DET at CLE:  Mid 80’s, strong wind out to right center. [spacer height=”20px”] A couple nights ago was Ace’s night and tonight is #2/#3 starters night as we have a lot of C+ to B level pitchers going and it’s Lefties night.  Nestor Cortes, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Dallas Keuchel, Julio Urias, Robbie Ray, Ranger Suarez, Jalen Beeks, Tarik Skubal, Eric Lauer, Daniel Lynch, Devin Smeltzya later, Martin Perez and Sean Manaea to be specific on Southpaw Friday. I guess Charlie Leibrandt, Jamie Moyer, Johan Santana and Jimmy Key are on the COVID list and were unavailable to go tonight. Oh, and Luis Castillo is pitching. On, a Friday. This GIF is of course in reference to that one time I said Luis Castillo was going to tear up his opponent and used another Hyeena GIF to describe it and of course Castillo went -13 on us and castrated our lineups.  So we do not ever use Luis […]
