The Dongers Club – May 19th

There are only eight (8) total MLB games today with one of them being a make-up from a rain out yesterday and thus it is not included on any DraftKings Classic slates but FanDuel actually included it.  My guess is that they had no idea it was a PPD game and were like yeah, lets do this, that’s another chance to create another tilt slate afterwards! Anyways, there are only three games this evening so this is the only article for today, just use and trust the Dashboard for help on the short slates and prepare for a fantastic weekend of Baseball after that. [spacer height=”20px”] WEATHER No issues. [spacer height=”20px”] The name of the game with the pitchers today is to just make sure you find someone who will perform good enough.  Honestly, that’s just about anyone from the look of things as I don’t have any pitchers getting blown up but I also don’t see anyone popping out 7 innings, 8 strikeouts and some dominant ace performance. The Mets new ace Chris Bassitt is taking the hill and I say that jokingly but lets hope Max Scherzer is okay in all seriousness.  That said, Bassitt is priced up on both sites and he should provide a smooth return but one which you aren’t going to be pissed if you fade. Jordan Montgomery should be a chalky option as a LHP in Camden Yards he will avoid giving up a ton of homers but also likely walks away sometime in the 5th inning having only 3 strikeouts.  Blah.  Same is true for his counter part Bruce Zimmermann, so if you want to use one, use them both on DraftKings. Cal Quantrill is not a great pitcher, but I can honestly see the idea of using him against the Reds offense which remains bad.  Yes, there are 3 lefties here who can do damage as Lefties in Cleveland, but Quantrill is a nice pivot off Tyler Mahle on FanDuel. Kyle Gibson would be worthy of use if Manny Machado sits after fouling a ball off his leg last night, otherwise, no.   Same for Yu Darvish if Bryce Harper remains out which I expect he will. Vince Velasquez and Carlos Hernandez are pitching in the game with the best hitting elements (80 degrees and 12+ mph winds to left), plus it’s a game I want to stack for some stupid reason because, well, […]

PGA Dew Sweeper: PGA Championship

PGA Championship Major #2!!  Southern Hills and the PGA Championship! Other than the Will Zalatoris call last week, it wasn’t too bad.  I didn’t get any 6/6 lineups through, but it was still a decent week.  We are now back to where the pricing will allow you to get what looks like a loaded lineup.  […]

The Dongers Club – May 18th

If you see references to the following games they are shockingly on FanDuel and not on DraftKings: Washington @ Miami San Diego @ Philadelphia [spacer height=”20px”] WEATHER No issues. [spacer height=”20px”] This is a loaded Aces kind of night. MAX SCHERZER Max always seems to shine bright when facing the Cardinals plus so far many teams coming off a double header are not doing much offensively the next day.  Home in Citi Field and outside of Tyler O’Neill finally running into one there’s not much here that I am scared of using Max for. KEVIN GAUSMAN We call this Daily Fantasy for a reason and we have to separate one day from another often times.  Such is the case as I have been riding Seattle three days in a row and two in Toronto only to see them go cold against Toronto pitching. Today Gausman lines up as the one pitcher who has very few opposing hitters that could cause problems off him and so he is our top guy despite any concerns over “will the Mariners finally break out”. PABLO LOPEZ (FD) Man if we didn’t have some other high end SP’s tonight on FanDuel Pablo would be the easy plug and play there.  He’s a contrarian FD only pivot off Max/Gausman/Ohtani/Cole/Giolito and one I think can match them but that’s a lot of good arms you need to fail on a one pitcher site. [spacer height=”20px”] I was willing to use Lucas Giolito last night when the options were thinner, but not tonight even though he is at a reduced price.  It could still be a short outing compared to what the others give us.  Zack Wheeler for the Phillies should be 5% on FanDuel if you want a really high upside contrarian option but that’s really the only benefit he has tonight. [spacer height=”20px”] WHITE SOX If there is one team to pay up for, it’s gotta be Chicago tonight.  None of the other spots are going to be as high end upside as the White Sox are tonight on DraftKings (FD is different and I would consider the Phillies a top stack there).  But I believe Jose Abreu is primed to have a break out game tonight against Greinke as he should be able to square things up and it’s time for Zack to have a rough start. Jose Abreu Luis Robert Tim Anderson Yasmani Grandal […]

The Dongers Club – May 18th – Early

We have three slates today which have quality Baseball games on them and your mileage will vary on whether or not specific sites have good contests for you to play them on. We start things off with five games on both DraftKings and FanDuel for Afternoon Synchronicity which includes two NL West Divisional games and three other non interleague games. [spacer height=”20px”] WEATHER No issues at all to worry about and I expect the roof in Milwaukee will be closed with rain in the area there. [spacer height=”20px”] Despite only five games, this early slate is loaded with quality arms on it. CORBIN BURNES A good pitching re-match between Burnes and Fried will take center stage in Milwaukee to start things off.  Burnes is just a model of consistency going 6+ with 7+ strikeouts in each of his last three games.  Included in that was a battle with these same cold Braves, who likely are without Acuna today after he played last night and Burnesy more than anyone else likely has a shot at double digit strikeouts today. DREW RASMUSSEN Rasmussen is better than E-Rod and Detroit has less top of the lineup threats than Tampa.  All things equal my lean is Rasmussen but he is also the more popular one and on a short slate this is a tough 1v1 call to make for me.  In the end, I would much rather be on Assmussen than E-Fraud though, but for a second lineup pivot over to E-Fraud. EDUARDO RODRIGUEZ I see very little difference between the two arms facing it off at the free snacks stand in Costco Warehouse Field down in Tampa.  Both opponents are very weak lineups and the Rays specifically are hitting just .164 as a team over the last 10 days. [spacer height=”20px”] GIANTS It is what it is folks.  The Giants are owning the Rockies as usual and the Giants remain free on DK. Evan Longoria Austin Slater – $3400 + the need to secure Burnes and hey look, 99% ownership.  Who is that 1% bozo?  Not me. Wilmer Flores – I don’t always play King Donkey Wilmer Flores vs a LHP but when I do, it’s a day game on the road. Joey Bart DODGERS As you can tell, the chalk on this slate is pretty clear and we’re going to have to sweat out things today because the obvious looks good.  Dodgers […]

The Dongers Club – May 17th, 2022

Thanks to the lockout bullshit we have two scheduled double-headers today and one make-up double-header which causes a little mix-up on the slate sizes.  We also have more senior citizen slates, including the Padres-Phillies series not being available to us — which blows! 10 Game Main Slate on DraftKings (Includes CWS/KC and ARI/LAD) 8 Game Main Slate on FanDuel Both slates include the Pirates and in the case of the double headers we should be monitoring the ability to take the loser of the first game in the second game.  Yes, that includes the Royals. [spacer height=”20px”] WEATHER All good, but cooler today than yesterday. [spacer height=”20px”] LUCAS GIOLITO Giolito is DraftKings only and there’s a chance you might be betting against him if the White Sox win the first game.  All that does for me is just open up the chances of this being a SP game stack with Brady Singer too though because the Royals offense remains putrid.  They aren’t striking out much but then when you have Carlos Santana, Michael A. Taylor and Hunter Dozier in your lineup who cares. The White Sox will be going with a bullpen game in G2 tonight and Giolito will go tomorrow. JAMES KAPRIELIAN I joked that this was “Not Coors Field” in last nights article but it’s simply one of the best spots to always find a pitcher when you really need one.  Oakland Coliseum at night with sub 60 degree temps and a chalky Dylan Bundy on the other side.  Let’s go a little leverage opposite here and ride Kaprielian. MERRILL KELLY Kelly has had great success vs the Dodgers historically and if the Diamondbacks steal the first game I’ll pivot off him for that narrative reason, but otherwise I generally like using pitchers in double headers as they’re lower scoring and right now the Dodgers lineup is good but not explosive good — at least not yet. [spacer height=”20px”] Also will consider … Alex Cobb … Cobb is my pivot off Kelly if necessary.  Despite being in Coors Field his velocity is strong enough that he can miss enough bats and still escape with a solid enough score at his 8k price point. Jameson Taillon … JT will get a favorable park in Camden Yards tonight the way it is playing and while he doesn’t have the K% upside that Cobb or Kaprielian have, he should be able to […]

The Dongers Club – May 16th, 2022

Welcome to the Monday Edition of the Dongers Club, which features the information we need for this fine 11 game Monday slate.  Two games start early in the Senior Citizen’s slate and both are down in Florida, which feels just natural and is also why we name that the Senior Citizens slate. Tonight’s slate kicks off games in Camden, SkyDome*, Fenway Pawk, Citi Field, Miller* Park, Wrigley, The graveyard in Texas, Kauffman, Coors, Not Coors (Oakland), and Dodger Stadiums. From a pitching standpoint we have my favorite match-up in the past decade and a bunch of #3, #4 and has beens on the mound, including the possibility of Johnny Cueto pitching. But that’s not even a blip on our radar for excitement. [spacer height=”20px”] WEATHER Cards at Mets – Big storm system coming through the east coast.  This one has significant delay risk but likely low PPD risk.  They should be able to watch the storms finish off & get the game in which could help St. Louis since they traveled late last night or back fire if they all fall asleep in the 5th inning of a game that started at 9pm EST. [spacer height=”20px”] This is a dumpster fire for pitching tonight by my standards.  The thing that I always prioritize is finding pitching that will go 6+ IP and tonight is the anti-depth slate in terms of guys going deep.  This doesn’t mean they all get blown up, it just means that it’s hard for me to find a depth of guys who I am happy to use. LUIS SEVERINO I can tell you right now my gut says that Severino will not finish with some dominant score that makes you kick yourself for fading him.  What you will be kicking yourself about is not taking Severino’s 6 innings of clean Baseball in a park which isn’t going off and a lineup that has a bunch of cold hitters right now since Jorge Mateo might be out due to injury. NOAH SYNDERGAARD I am just confident in taking pitchers against bad offenses.  Unfortunately the list of bad offenses and opposing SP who can go 5+ IP tonight also seems to be limited, so despite Thor being on the road he is still in a favorable pitching park and if the roof is closed as expected then I think he gets through this Rangers lineup without any major […]

Sunday Dongers Club – May 15th

We once again do not have Site Synchronicity between FanDuel and DraftKings MAIN slates today and once again it is FanDuel who has opted to have the bigger Sunday slate by including the Boston vs Texas and Kansas City vs Colorado games.  What I find interesting about DraftKings removing these games this year is that the Sunday afternoon slates are beginning at 1:35 PM now, so it’s not like there is a big time gap. You won’t be using any of Austin Davis, Martin Perez, Daniel Lynch or Austin Gomber on FanDuel, so just consider any hitters from those games the only things in play. [spacer height=”20px”] WEATHER All games play. [spacer height=”20px”] Read what I actually write here and just don’t skim through the names. TARIK SKUBAL Skubal should become the anchor to however many lineups that are being entered on your behalf on DraftKings today.  On FanDuel, just keep reading on. Hopefully everyone else will see that the Orioles probably roll out a RHB heavy lineup which those who read Skubal’s 2021 numbers will see he gave up over 30 HR to righties last year.  Not this season though, he has been much better at limiting damage to RHB and the Orioles RHB aren’t exactly a murders row of hitters. He is our SP2, so we start with him to get that out of the way for DraftKings players. ALEK MANOAH In the climate controlled environment of a Costco Warehouse down in Tampa, Alek Manoah gets a lineup he has mastered and with as good as his slider is we’re going to see him have one of his 7+ strikeout dominant outings today. Alek Manoah is my FanDuel SP1. BRANDON WOODRUFF / ELISIER HERNANDEZ We go down to South Beach for our third options on DraftKings this afternoon and I would prefer to play both of these guys together riding a potentially low scoring game in Miami. Ride the SBT for the Hernandez side at low ownership and Woodruff has been very solid vs LHB which will be comforting in his Jazz & one of the come to Jesus moments he will have in this game. [spacer height=”20px”] Also expect to pitch well:   Joelan Ryan, Daniel Lynch/Austin Gomber but dont use them there’s no need being that cute on FD, Had all the right teams and all the wrong players last night which was a little frustrating, but […]

The Dongers Club – May 14th

Here come the runs, do de do do, here come the runs, do de do do, and I say, that’s alright….  Yep, a big scoring night last evening and there’s going to be a lot of over-reaction to that by others, but we must remember that we expected Bullpens to start to wear down and the combination of hitters getting into a consistent routine is going to lead to more teams scoring 7+ runs going forward. [spacer height=”20px”] WEATHER The Mariners/Mets game could have some rain, but I expect that they will find a way to get it in. [spacer height=”20px”] SHANE BIEBER This is a team Bieber can handle and a stadium he has usually had some hot starts in.  Let others fade Bieber off a really bad start as he bounces back tonight vs a suddenly ice cold Twins offense. ZAC GALLEN A mix between Hendricks and Gallen tonight and I’m sure there is some type of mixed drink with Hendricks but I am personally not going to recommend it.  The side to prefer is Gallen right now over Kyle Hendricks, who I do think pitches okay, but Gallen is in a very good routine right now and with the Cubs high strikeout potential I don’t want to fade what should be a 7 to 9 strikeout performance from the Milk Man. MICHAEL LORENZEN * We want to keep an eye out how the first game of this double header plays out.  But there’s a lot of positive things for Lorenzen starting with the Oakland offense being terrible and this being the evening game of their double-header.  If the first game is an Angels blowout though I wouldn’t mind fading Lorenzen as most double headers are being split. [spacer height=”20px”] Darkhorse Pitchers (Secondary Lineups) Glenn Otto Ranger Suarez [spacer height=”20px”] I don’t see stacks doing what they did last night.  Expect these games to still feature good upside for the overs but not as explosive as yesterday.  The entire world will go to the Yankees/White Sox in a game with Jordan Montgomery and Dallas Keuchel, and while this game could still finish 5-3, I would tell you that early Saturday night games in Chicago always tend to play down to offense.  It’s just a thing with the lighting around 6pm when they start the games there on Saturday.  So yeah, the Yanks are hot and Rizzo probably has […]

NHL Playoff Slapshot – May 14th

GAME SEVENS, WHO WE GOT?  I have series long bets riding on each of these games tonight that need Carolina, Tampa and Edmonton to all win.  So those are my rooting interests tonight and I have strong confidence in each of them. GAME THOUGHTS BRUINS at HURRICANES If this is a high scoring game then […]
