Finally a perfect Friday.  A 15 game MLB slate with a 2:20 Showdown Cubs game, a couple senior citizen circuit turbo games and then our main 12 game slate tonight which includes Yusei Kikuchi vs the Yankees and the Royals trying to solve Shohei Ohtani. WEATHER WSH at MIN:  Cold, ugly, miserable, depressing.  Also known as, Minnesota. MIA at CLE:  Rain in Cleveland, which sucks because we miss LiC with Jazz going there.  I dont see how they get the game in. Chase Field Roof = Open   AARON NOLA It’s a pay up for pitching Friday night, with Nola being in a fantastic setup to bring home 10-12 strikeout performance vs the Rockies.  I would even rank him above Ohtani on FanDuel considering not just the $2100 price difference but also because I hvae him getting 10+ strikeouts tonight.  A nice ladder opportunity on his K props today as well. SHOHEI OHTANI What should I tell you?  You want me, the Royals homer, to try and sell you on Royals in Anaheim?  A place they always rake in?  You want me to say that they’re getting out of cold Missouri and into warm LA and they suddenly start getting offense from Melendez, Salvy and Massey? Do you wan’t me to tell you that they’re going to magically bring back Kevin Seitzer, Danny Tartabull and Rookie Year Bob Hamelin here tonight? The last two weeks have been really down from a Baseball/MLB DFS standpoint.  Some of the results have been so-so with a few hits here and there, but overall it’s been bad by my standards.  One of the things that has been annoying for 10+ days now is the lack of Chairman results, which honestly is just one pick in the whole article but something I definitely take great pride in. I watched some bad Baseball yesterday as I am still blown away by certain teams inability to have a clue how to play situational baseball when it comes to late inning strategy and specifically in extra innings.  Let me rant for a minute here as the Miami Marlins managed to get through the T10 without allowing San Francisco to score and had one of their best athletes – Jazz Chisolm – set to lead off the next inning at 2nd base. Now, mind you, this was because Jazz got out in the inning prior when they had the winning run in scoring position with 2 outs and he was trying to pull the ball as hard as he could for a home run, but I digress. So, let’s see here.  Nobody out, great speed on 2nd, tie game, just need a run to win against the worst bullpen in the NL.  What do you do? Well you swing away first pitch and pop it up of course.  Not even a hint of maybe daring the pitcher to be concerned that Jazz could steal or the threat of a bunt to move him over.  Nothing.  They wound up getting nothing out of the inning despite getting the bases loaded and then lost because they gave up not one, but TWO 2-run homers int he 11th.  Yes, I had a Marlins bet in, and that’s beside the point (**** EDITORS NOTE:  No, Renner is just bitching, thats really the point here *****). It’s frustrating to see shit like that, and then the Max Scherzer sticky stuff scenario while MLB hypes up some bullshit pinch runner rule they are testing in the minor leagues and at some point you say enough with this garbage shit, can we have our real baseball game back? Site synchronicity for a mid week afternoon slate with 10 games on both FD and DK for the games which begin at 1PM, so you do not have the Rays/Reds game on either site in a classic format.   New Player Note The Oakland Athletics have called up Mason Miller, who has been flying through their farm system and some have dubbed ‘the next Strider’.  He has great velocity and a hard slider from the right side, which should bode well for having good K% rates in the majors, but like always we’ll expect some walks and limitations early with a young SP in the big leagues.  Shockingly, he is not in the DraftKings player pool today.   WEATHER Rain in Chicago for the Phils and White Sox.  They already had one PPD spot and they have windows to get this in so I would expect that. Coors Field on the other hand looks ugly.  Which couold only be the best blessing possible.  It’s also heavy winds blowing in, temps in the 50’s and I kinda respect both pitchers there so if it does magically play then we can fade it one more time.   TREVOR ROGERS There once was a time when we considered the Giants to be elite vs LHP, but those days are long gone in my mind.  Wilmer Flores and Darin Ruf are two guys who were really known for being lefty smashers, but neither really scares me here and with the way Rogers has been getting whiffs on his change-up he should be able to get through this veteran lineup in a getaway game in South Beach. MAX SCHERZER Technically we have a battle of two SP facing their former teams here, even though Max’s time with the Dodgers was a very brief cup of coffee that didn’t amount to much. I don’t forsee any blow up issues, not when he is able to go through Martinez-Muncy-Outman-Peralta today with ease.  Max to me is better to pay up for than Justin Steele who is slightly cheaper vs a much weaker opponent, but someone I am cautious about having a good game today.  Pay the extra $ for Max. WEATHER The wind is blowing out in most stadiums tonight, but none of them are really going to warrant mentioning to make you over think things.  I mean, the one which honestly stands out the most to me is in Coors Field blowing out to RF, but it’s Coors so it’s not like anyone is shocked that it would produce runs. No PPD issues tonight either, so on with the show.   LOGAN GILBERT Just write down the floor tonight for Gilbert at 6 IP, 6 K and 1 ER allowed vs the Brewers.  His ceiling however could go much higher depending upon how he does vs Adames and Tellez in the heart of the Milwaukee lineup, if he strikes them out or gets through with a breeze then we’re looking at Gilbert as the #1 SP by far tonight. MARCUS STROMAN Stroman is not a pitcher who comes out and puts up 5 or 6 dominant starts in a row as he’ll always have that once every 2-3 weeks start which is just ugly.  But it’s Oakland and it’s a scenario where only the Cubs defense (which is very good) could wind up giving him problems tonight. NATE EOVALDI Last week in Texas, the Royals got to Nate for 6 ER on 10 hits, but they also struck out 7 times over 91 pitches from Nate.  Expect a cooler offense for KC today as Melendez/Salvy aren’t doing much at the moment and the Royals don’t hit as well at home in April.  Probably need 100+ pitches from Eovaldi to beat out the guys above — which he doesn’t do enough, but I do think at $7800 he’ll be a good SP2 option on DK.   Other pitching thoughts Ken Waldichuk (6100) is the best value pitching option on DK, I would not touch him on a 1 SP site like FanDuel, but should he get 13-15 DK fpts?  Yes. Nine game Main Monday night slate, a perfect one if you ask me. I’m also just now putting together that the MLB must have prioritized keeping teams at home from Sunday to Monday this season.  The White Sox, Royals, Cardinals, Astros, Athletics, Padres, Mariners and Dodgers are all home today after playing home series over the weekend.  Only Colorado had to travel yesterday to get back home.  Maybe the MLBPA said we want more home family time on Sunday nights and we would rather travel during the week?  Who knows, but I stick with my long standing theory that the team who doesn’t travel Sunday night wins on Monday more often than not. WEATHER SNOW … Yes, SNOW.  Not, J.T. Snow, not Garth Snow, but actual white powder shit is coming down in Chicago and I don’t mean cocaine either.  It appears it will be long gone or turned into rain before the game starts, but its Cold, Windy, and just down right fucking miserable in Chicago.   We will know long before the game time if they decide to PPD this one. *** They PPD it thankfully *** All other games for sure play.   CORBIN BURNES We nailed the Burnes get right game in Arizona last week and another favorable road game tonight in Seattle should just allow him to stack up more great numbers for his impending huge contract with another team.  The most encouraging thing was seeing 0 walks vs Arizona and there’s no reason not to expect a similar result tonight even though Kolten Wong is gonna try to do something vs his former team.  Good luck with that. JACOB deGROM deGrom has gone 92 and 98 pitches in his last two starts and now makes his first road start as a Texas Ranger.  Lucky for him, he continues to get to pitch into a huge park and will face the Royals for the second time in a row.  Sometimes we would lean on the hitters seeing the pitcher twice in a row, but that sometime is not here. Happy Sunday, we have the regular 1PM main slate featuring 10 games, followed up with a four game afternoon slate and then the Rangers/Astros in what should be a very boring Sunday Night Showdown game that’s probably over in 30 minutes. I’ll include some quick Afternoon slate thoughts in the bottom of this article for a full day of MLB action for everyone. WEATHER Building a new ‘Weather’ page on the Lineups page that we have here.  It should be functional this week for you to see, but as always I’ll keep doing a breakdown on the weather and just highlighting things that could impact play and whether a game should be ignored. Today we have two games which carry some bad weather in them that have PPD risk, but neither of them are divisional games. Orioles at White Sox – Severe storms, they either try to get through it or write it off as needing to fly the Orioles back for a make up game later in the season.  The Orioles are off on Monday but the White Sox are home vs the Phillies, so they can’t just push it out a day. Giants at Tigers – Game will play. Risk here is when/if the rain comes and causes an in game delay. Phillies at Reds – This one will play but could have a delay to let the field dry out.  But it plays.  Quick note on the Reds.  They seem to always have a reputation for waiting games out and when it rains in Cincinnati it tends to lead to better offense after storms. As always, follow this rule of thumb on weather if you are concerned and don’t sit there asking questions 30 mins before the slate. — If the game starts in a delay, fade it. — If the game starts on time, play it. There are 180+ slates each season, don’t let one weather game ruin your experience when you could build a lineup that is what you want/need with other options.  We have 8 other games besides these two today people.  I mean, you could be stacking Giants/Tigers without ANY concern for weather!
