The High Line – XFINITY Series – Pennzoil 150 at The Brickyard – July 30, 2022

Overview

Indianapolis Motor Speedway is one of the most historical venues in racing and this weekend the XFINITY Series will take on the Road Course at The Brickyard. With qualifying in the books it’s easier to gauge who we should target as the drivers will spin 62 lap on the 2.44-mile road course. Austin Cindric won this race last year from the second-starting position leading a race-high 29 laps in the effort, in fact the top three qualified drivers led all but three laps in the race. Time will tell if such a trend will continue this year.

Most comparable tracks: Watkins Glen, Sonoma Raceway, Charlotte ROVAL, Daytona ROVAL

Top Drivers

AJ Allmendinger ($10,100), Starting on the Pole

Allmendinger takes shock NASCAR Cup win chaotic race on Indy RC

With a stacked field in this race full of a mix of road course veterans and Cup regulars, Allmendinger, who qualified on the pole in this race last year has done so again after a fast lap of 97.8 miles per hour and a great showing in practice on Friday. Rostering a driver on the pole in a race that doesn’t have a ton of dominator points available could be risky but with Dinger being so good here I wouldn’t be surprised if he leads a bulk of the laps here.

Chase Briscoe ($10,600), Starting 6th

Briscoe finds himself in the 07 car this weekend running his first XFINITY race of the season. The 07 car has seen plenty of action this season most notably with Cole Custer behind the wheel on four occasions. In those races Custer has a win, two top-fives, three top-10’s and 86 laps led. Briscoe won nine races in his last season as a full-time XFINITY driver, including this race at what is his home track as he led 30 laps in the effort. He’ll be a dominator contender.

Brandon Jones ($7,600), Starting 36th

Despite not being a great road course racer historically, Jones has 18th, 11th, and 5th-place finishes on road courses this season. There are simply too many place differential points available for a good driver like Jones in great equipment. He should be very chalky.

Ty Gibbs ($10,400), Starting 2nd

Gibbs, like Allmendinger, is a contender to dominate the majority of this race and is worth considering as a pivot off of Dinger. Gibbs has a road course win this season, a seventh-place finish at Portland, and won two road-course races last season.

Also Consider:

Myatt Snider ($6,600), Starting 25th

  • Good road course racer has a 6th place finish at COTA and a 2nd place finish at Portland this season.

Brandon Brown ($5,300), Starting 38th

  • Brown is a solid floor-play starting dead last in the field at a great value in cash games.

Ross Chastain ($10,200), Starting 18th

  • Good tournament play starting in the middle of the field. The equipment isn’t the best but Chastain has turned a corner this season in his ability.

Parker Kligerman ($7,300), Starting 37th

Ryan Sieg ($5,900), Starting 31st

GOOD LUCK!!
